Birmingham did set out very defensively for a home team and it didn't really get interesting until 10 mins or so from the end when both teams went for it more.
Great result though - Dunne and Collins both looked very solid too.

Watched the game in a pub which had a large number of Blues fans in it.
Hearing them go deadly silent as Gabby scored the winner in the last five minutes was absolutely brilliant!

Impressed with Villa today.
Not playing great but still winning, especially away from home is the key to a successful season. Everybody seems to have written them off as Top 4 material but they won't be far off. |

We played very well away from home last season and still cocked it up. Each game is important and should be treated as such.
With Dunne, Warnock and Collins it could very well be top 4 if Carew and Agbonlahor get their proper scoring boots on. |

Villa fan here, was just wondering whether or not their was a villa thread, and nice to see one is on DS!
![]() Glad we beat Birmingscum last Sunday, like others have said it seemed to come alive in the last ten minutes. |

Not good. I hope MON and NRC can resolve their differences, as I think NRC will prove to be a key player for us this season. But sadly, I think he's finished as a Villa player. |

2-0 win against Portsmouth!
We're up to fifth, but if Liverpool win later, they'll overtake us. So come on West Ham!

Through to the Carling Cup fourth round after a 1-0 win over Cardiff.
![]() I hope we have a really good run...I can't see any reason why we can't win it. |

2-1 defeat to Blackburn ends our winning run.
I'd like MON to explain why he thought substituting Delph for Heskey was a good idea. |

I think MoN as lost the plot, seriously
His assistant JR should be saying , Gaffer, why are we taking off Delph and replacing him with Heskey ? It seems MoN runs the club how he sees fit with no comeback from anyone else.Randy leaves him to it Maybe its time someone else was inserted between RL and MoN on a day to day basis |

If there was somebody between Randy and MON, MON would walk, and despite his faults, I still think he's the right manager for the job.
I do agree that somebody should have a word with him though. Heskey is clearly somebody he favours, despite the fact he's useless and offers little to the team. He also needs to swallow his pride and re-include Nigel Reo-Coker in the squad. 4-5-1 with NRC, we go on a winning streak. 4-4-2 without him, we lose to Wigan and Blackburn. Coincidence? |

Been so busy lately, but of the Birmingham derby I can say I was there
in the away end and I was seen on the sky camera before the game. It was bloody priceless that when Gabby scored right near the end I nearlly got crushed but it was all good. Didn't even let a few bottles nearly hitting me get to me as it was an amazing day, not the best ground though. Then seeing us carry on winning against Portsmouth with a good goal again by Gabby and the same against Cardiff. What a same we blew it against Blackburn but despite MON having his critics by some Villa fans I still believe he's the best guy for this job. Just hope it was a blip against Blackburn. |

Hearing Gareth Barry get booed and jeered, and then Richard Dunne putting us into the lead has put a huge smile on my face!

Gutted to see them equalise, but I cannot deny they deserved it.
I'm pleased with our performance...I'd have taken 1-1 before the game. Emile Heskey has got to go though. He had a golden chance to at least SHOOT at the goal...and he fell over. |

I knew we wouldn't score when Heskey came on.
Wtf was he doing at the end?

Thought it was a cracking game- draw was a fair result.
I agree about Heskey though- he adds nothing to your lot, in fact he detracts. Probably first choice striker in the World Cup as well
