Unless we have a LOT of luck, we can forget the FA Cup.

We can forget Europe as well. This is pitful. I wouldn't have minded this defeat if we won at home against Sunderland and Wolves, but now it's inexcusable.

We'l have to take hope from the fact Liverpool beat Palace 9-0 in the league the same season they lost to them in FA cup semi final in 1990

What is going on here? Haven't been able to follow the match but I've seen the score? Does it flatter Chelsea? Have Villa really capitulated this badly?

I switched off after it became 3-1, but we didn't seem to be doing TOO badly up to then. I honestly don't know what happened after that.

Well, it's safe to say I've lost faith in the defence. If you think about it, they've conceded so many this year it's beyond a joke. 4 against Blackburn, 3 against Crystal Palace, 2 against Burnley, 2 against Reading, 2 against Wolves. Teams that shouldn't be scoring so many against a defence that's been classed as one of the best. And now, they've truly been exposed with Chelsea scoring 7.

The only clean sheets I can remember this year was against Spurs and Stoke. And guess what? We didn't score either.

I'm not happy with the squad now. The only player who's done a damn good job this month is Carew, which is surprising seeing as he was really poor this first half of the season. MON needs to forget starting Heskey every match and focus on Carew.

Fair play to him for apologising, and I'll forgive him as long as he makes up for it in two weeks time.

I won't hold anything against JC for that performance. He was one man out of eleven yesterday...he alone wasn't responsible for that mess.

John Carew was in agony after the game, he's injured.

John Carew
I tried to continue, but in the second half I felt pain, like two knives in my back. I'm going to be have it looked at and treated in Birmingham, and the next 48 hours will determine a lot.
Eurgh our players are battered and exhausted or injured, I don't think a week off is enough.

Oh jesus! If things weren't bad enough, we look set to lose the one player who's done a job for us this month.

Okay, now it's valid to blame MON for playing players that are exhuasted and injured. He really needs to expand our squad in the summer and form a healthy rotation because at the moment, we don't look to be improving at all. He needs to stop playing the same players and give everyone a chance. No doubt some aren't feeling confident at the moment and who can blame them when we've had wonder boy Heskey doing mostly **** all in every match over them. The only player who I would have been happy from playing at the start in every match is Carew because his a goal scoring machine at the moment and without him in the picture, we'll have to be extremely careful.

Whispers going round that quite a few of the players have donated the wages of this week to the Acorns Childrens Hospice.

If that's true, then fair play to them.

They don't deserve their wages this week...giving them to Acorns would be an excellent gesture.

Is Martin O'Neill on the verge of quitting Villa or is it just rumour mongering?

http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news...cle373925.html

Villa have denied the rumours but something definitely going on.

Nobody seems to know for sure at the moment...though I hope it's just a bad rumour.

There's nothing on the official site.

All the reports seem to be suggesting that it's a bad rumour that got out of hand...thank god.

Hilariously bad rumour, O'Neill isnt a quitter, he's not the type of person to walk out on a club after one game where the team were not themselves.

Randy has handed Martin O'Neill £80m to spend over the summer on some new players, both agreed the squad needs to be bigger according to The Guardian.

Next season I think will be his last for Villa, then he'll probably retire.

I'd be very surprised if that's true after all the noises that have been coming out of Villa in recent weeks that MON may have to sell before he buys in the summer and it being April 1st. What club leaks to the press (other than the blue noses) how much the club will have to spend? it just inflates potential asking fees.

Where does it mention 80m for this summer?
