As a neutral Villa were very lucky- penalty was 50/50 but Blues were the better team for much of the game.

It was a penalty for me, we didn't take our chances, always dangerous in local derbies.
Not looking forward to work tomorrow.... |

I'm delighted with the result, even if we didn't exactly deserve it.
It's guaranteed us European football next season, as the lowest we can finish is seventh. Credit to Birmingham...as ever, they battled hard and gave it 100%. Unlucky not to score, and Joe Hart was a fantastic loan signing for them. Had it not been for him, I think it would've been a far more comfortable win. Bring on Man City!

Woo, I'm back in the house, but only staying a short bit.
Great match, both goalkeepers did extremely well. It's justice the ref sided with us for a change and what better way to happen in a derby.Stop moaning you lost you clowns. There's only one champ in West Midlands, I thought the education system told you that. And stop derailing this thread, you're not worthy of it. ![]() We really need to up a gear against the blue team we should worry about. Win that, and 4th/5th is looking very likely. |

What a weekend, we beat the Scum, Stoke manage to out do our debacle at SW6, and great chance for 4th, superb.

Big game today. We need a win if we're to qualify for the Champions League, and also need to hope Bolton can do us a big favour against Spurs.
Unchanged side from the side that beat the scum last week. |

Big game for you guys today, but I don't understand why Birmingham v Burnley was on Sky Sports, when they have nothing to play for yet Man City v Villa is huge in the race for 4th. Very strange scheduling

We were just unlucky, we threw everything but the kitchen sink at them but, just wasn't happening, one of those days.
Roll on World Cup and next season hopefully with some fresh blood. |

Overall, I'm happy with Villa's performance this year, but devastated we didn't really achieve anything worthwhile again. Looks like we'll be finishing 6th for the 3rd year with no trophies. And no, the Peace Cup didn't count.
![]() I hope MON manages to sign a capable striker who can score effectively and a creative midfielder next season. His done well this season apart from Downing who hasn't impressed me at all. A 12 million fee on a guy who was injured until December and is now useless in the majority of every match isn't on. I hope in the beginning of next season MON uses him as a 20 min sub or something. But then that goes to show we got ripped off. We're never going to make a profit from him that's for sure unless he shines alot. |

Well...final game of the season.
Who'd have thought we'd have the season we had just three games in? Defeat at Villa Park against Wigan on the opening day, followed by a very early exit in the UEFA Cup. We then went on to beat Liverpool away, Man United away, Chelsea at home, a point against Arsenal. We did a double over the scum, we beat Fulham at Craven Cottage...the same Fulham who've reached the UEFA Cup final with some fantastic home results. On top of that, we reached the Carling Cup final, and the FA Cup semi final, where we battled hard and lost to the two teams fighting it out for the league. We missed out on fourth place in the 37th game of the season, but qualified for Europe with more points than we got last season. We could yet finish 5th, above Man City and Liverpool, which would be a great achievement. We could yet finish 7th, behind Man City and Liverpool, which wouldn't be a bad result...who am I kidding? We MUST finish ahead of Liverpool! ![]() Whilst there have been some results that have disappointed, it's been an excellent season overall. This summer will be the most intriguing, and could be crucial to how we progress from here. But whatever happens, we need a striker!!! Anyway, Blackburn today. I'm going for a battling 2-1 win to us, which will guarantee at least 6th place. |

It ends as we started...with a pathetic home defeat against a northern team.
Still...we finished above Liverpool, which is some consolation. |

Awful result, but it wouldn't have mattered if we won today anyway. Still, this is a clear warning that we really need to improve next season. I expect a top notch striker at the very minimum or I can see us finishing below 6th next season.

FA Cup Semi, CC Final, instant Europa qualification, finishing above Liverpool, not a bad season, least we're not Tottenham losing 4-2
Impressive wins against Chelsea, Man United and Liverpool - Just need Lerner to open up his war chest and there we go. Well done Blackburn come party with us. |
