Not losing the match today is going to be very important. Not only because we'll gain point(s), but because we don't want to add any extra pressure on Randy's search. It'll be good for Kevin MacDonald as well. UTV.

Brilliant display from the team. Credit to Milner as well who still played for us on the day. And Albrighton will be one to look out for.
Now if we defeat Rapid Vienna on Thursday, do we really need a new manager? I'd say give Kev Mac a chance. He gave a good vibe before the match even began. |

Looks like Randy is in talks with Ajax regarding Martin Jol.
![]() http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/...-the-new-aston I really hope he becomes our new manager. I've always rated him! And his better than all the tosh we've been linked to! The only question is....Will Randy & co cough up Ajax's demand? Oh, and poor old Kev Mac looked rather uncomfortable as the Villa manager in the post-match interview. Think it would be best all round if he stayed as the head couch for our reserves to be fair now. I wouldn't want him to leave if things go pair shaped. |

Randy seems willing to pay to get him. I think it's just a case of whether he wants to be our new manager or not.
Please say yes, Martin. We'd love you!

Why do you want him to go ?
His put us 6th in the league for the third consecutive year now Last season he managed to get us to the Carling Cup final, FA Cup semi-final while defeating Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd, two which happened to be at their ground His won us the Peace Cup which don't forget had hard teams involved such as Real Madrid, Porto and Juventus His really shaped our squad and made some excellent purchases He has that chraisma and passion which many managers lack MON and Lerner get on really well which is important for the future of our club Now before he came on board we were a midtable club. Do we really wanna go back there? It's only a friendly. If it makes you feel any better, we defeated Peterborough earlier this week. ![]() Quote:
I'd rather O'Neill stay - the man is essential to the club at the moment.
Judging by Dunney, I think we're going to have a crack at the Europa League this year. Quote:
O'Neill has made progression each year even if it is slight.
An inch forward is better than a foot ba ck. It will be difficult this year for Villa to move up a place to finish fifth and very difficult to get into the top four. A piece of silverware at the end of the year would be nice. See , he was on borrowed time , he has no charisma and seems to think he is Brian Clough, reborn He took Villa as far as he could and in the end realised he was losing the dressing room with his antics Well done Randy for standing up to him Great team display against WH I would be happy with MJ or KM Is villatalk.com still down ? |

His one of the most charamstic managers you can find and we're gonna miss his great passion to lift the players up when things are getting tough such as when we were 2-0 down against Reading shortly after being knocked out the Carling Cup final. I really don't understand why some Villa fans are having a go at his decision to leave when we're still not clear why he left! Oh well, it's time to move on now. I just feel MON was the manager we needed back when we were a bottom half mid table team and he doesn't deserve the stick his getting now. Anyway..... It looks like we're now being linked to Maradona. All this speculation on who's gonna be our next manager has made this great club very exciting.

Yesterday was the best footballing performance I have seen by a Villa team at VP for a long time.
I think MON did a good job, but I had said for a couple of years that he would not take us any further. I would be happy with either McDonald or Jol but the most important thing, unfortunately, is how much money Randy will commit. A very good start to the season but I will not get carried away. |

The Milner/Ireland deal with Man City has finally been done. Gutted to see you go, James...you will be missed. Just don't come crawling back when your Man City dream inevitably implodes.
I'm hoping Ireland has the same impact Dunne had...a player forced out by Man City with a big point to prove.

It would have been good to keep Milner because him and Petrov alone would have been strong in midfield both in attack and defence. But will still have Ireland and we needed a creative player plus the money. Dunne will make sure to get Ireland settled.

I love Man City. That's the second time we've had a great deal from them.
Ireland & 16M for Milner has got to be our best transfer deal in history |

10 mins before the kick-off.
It should be interesting to see if the squad we're using tonight will put 110% into their performance to prove that they're worth using in future. A goalscoring draw would be good enough imo. We really need to score there this time. |

Not happy about the reserve squad selection...no disrespect to the team, but it would be nice to see us take Europe seriously. I hope I'm eating my words at the final whistle, but I'm not hugely confident right now.

The thing is Villa fans have been slating MON of not resting players and using the whole squad. But now Kev Mac does the opposite and now his getting slated! No disrespect to you Yoshi, I too would rather have our best XI but let's see how it goes.
As long as it's not a heavy defeat, we could easily finish them off at VP with a full strengthen squad. |

I really don't understand the Villa team selection, it's like what Everton do.
You play weak sides in Europe then spend the whole season trying to get back into said competition so you can play a weak side again Villa and Everton are never going to be to top 4 so why not put some effort in to the one winnable competition your in?! |
