That was shite, what a waste of money.
Horrifc results, poor display, low goal scorers and dropping points continously. Not the greatest season is it? |

Houllier's first Premiership game fully in charge was against Wolves on Sept 26 which we won.
That was his only win but it is still early days his Premiership record reads Wins - 1 Draws - 2 Lost - 2 5 points from a possible 15. |

Make that 6 from 18.
The frustrating thing is if we'd held on today and won against Blues, we'd be in the top 5 pushing for top 4. There's a golden chance and we're just not taking it. There's still a lot that could happen, but I get the feeling we're in for a long season. |

I knew they were gonna equalize at stoppage time. We're so predictable that you can't help but laugh.
We can forget about top 6. I know we still have a chance, but the way things are going, it would be best to focus on staying afloat and allow Houllier to bring in his own team. You can tell his getting pissed off with alot of the players and so am I. The young kids are great though. |

Well that was exciting.
Glad to get a point, but apart from the last 10/20 minutes, we never looked like scoring a goal. If Houllier doesn't bring in a remotely adequate striker in January, I will call for his head. Also, the stewards are idiots. No way should that fan have been removed from the ground...walking back to your seat, heading the ball back into play and accidentally falling over the barrier is not an offence... ![]() ![]() I am sure if he is given funds he will do.Anyway my real reason for popping into the thread was to ask what the general concencus is on Albrighton? I have to say he is a player who has impressed me in what I have seen of him this season, plenty of potential for sure. |

Albrighton has a great deal of potential and it is good to see that he is being given a chance.
As for Villa, Ireland has yet to settle while others like Carew just look to be marking time until they are moved on. January is said not to be the best time for buying players but given the funds Houllier should buy at least a couple, Villa desperately need a decent striker. What we don't need in January is for Villa to be selling players like Ashley Young and just pocketing the cash. If Lerner hasn't lost his wallet it will be interesting to see what Houllier does in the summer. It has been a long time since we had a manager that was able to buy and didn't wait until the last day of the transfer window. Two home games coming up, Blackpool on Wednesday night and then Manchester United next Saturday. |

Didn't mean to be so harsh on Houllier. As for Albrighton, he's been one of our best players so far this season. Loads of potential and I expect him to be a big star in the future. Great to see him and other younger players like Clark, Bannan and Delfouneso given a chance too...they're all hugely promising.

Hello people, first of many posts in here I hope!
Seems Gabby is on the bench tonight. The sooner he gets back up to full fitness the better, because to be honest I don't think Fonz is up to it!! |

Anything other than defeat would be a great result, but I expect United to win comfortably. Prove me wrong, Villa! |

To go two up was surprising but to give away two in the last 10 minutes was poor. Friedel standing well behind his own line having a cigarette as the second went past him.

Well, I said I'd take a point, but I'm still a little gutted right now.
Very proud though. We SHOULD have beaten United and we fought them all the way. Excellent effort.

Very encouraging perfomance and a shame we did not hold out for what would have been a deserved win, but the positives certainly outweighed the negatives today.
Typical refereeing inconsistency/bias from the ref though. Ash goes to the crowd to celebrate his goal and gets a yellow. Vidic does the same but no card....a consistent ref would have given a yellow (plus a red as he had already been booked). Also, Hernandez, a couple of seconds after being flagged offside hoofs it 20 rows into the crowd but no yellow is shown, a mistake which is compounded by the fact he was booked later for a shocking late challenge. |

watched the game and thought Villa, were very unlucky not to win to restrict Manchester united to no shots on target untill the 80th minute showes what an excelent performance it was. As for Albrighton, the lad seems to get better and better .

The youngsters were great, the tactics employed by GH let us down in the end
2 - nil up , shall we take off Gabby and bring on a defender and shut the shop or bring on the Fonz and the rest is history,at 2 - 2 we bring on the defender to protect the fooking draw |

So unlucky on Sat, thought we probably should have been home and dry by the time United started their comeback (I was convinced they were going to nick it in the last minute).
Have to agree with Cooper though, Gabby needed to be replaced by a defensive minded player. Fonz tried but the ball just didn't stick and that ended up being our downfall! Albrighton and Bannan look outstanding players, Hogg wasn't bad either!! |

You guys were very unlucky at the weekend. Considering the team you had out, to be so close to beating Man Utd, all credit to the team.
Albrighton looks a gem of a player to me. |

![]() I think the best part about him signing is the fact he'll be able to help develop Albrighton, Bannan amongst others. He has so much experience at the top level and that must surely help out in one way or another. |

I had some optimism before today's match, but from the first minute, it was clear that Arsenal had a point to prove. Apart from a few moments in the second half, we provided little threat and Arsenal fully deserved their win.

The injuries haven't done us any favours, but that's what we get when our best player leaves without even bothering to buy any new players. Ireland doesn't count, his been a total letdown. Houllier has been extremely unlucky, so I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt. But if I don't see any quality purchases on January, then I'm gonna question his position and the board for that matter.
