We're unchanged from the Liverpool draw.
Fingers crossed. |

First 20 minutes we looked like we were going to score everytime we went forward...we should have got more than one goal really. Spurs were giving us so much time and space in midfield, it was easy for us.
They came into it towards the end of the half though. |

We played well - it would have been a travesty if we hadn't taken all three points.
Ridiculous (if not surprising) scheduling btw, to make two teams playing in the UEFA Cup on Thursday play on Monday night. I'll miss the Villa game because of work (3:20pm KO )

Villa were rampant at times goals all over the pitch. Impressive performance. Their keeper was laughable at times though.
Looking good... 1 Chelsea P4 10 2 Liverpool P4 10 3 Arsenal P4 9 4 Aston Villa P4 7 |

![]() The spurs fans are a bit un-accepting of how much better than them you were. You created bags of chances but didn't capitalise. You'll need to change that. Agbonlahor has get his head up and look who he's got with him when he takes off on those runs. Barry ran the show in midfield. Huddlestone & Modric/Jenas couldn't get near him. Fantastic player. Hats off to O'Neill for hanging on to him. |

I'm amazed that in all the replays they showed during the game and all the highlights afterwards, there wasn't one clip of Barry's skill to take three players out of the game before he played the ball to Ash for the second goal.
He looks on fire again. |

The players looked a bit tired after monday night with the slow tempo we played at for most of the game. I would have prefered to have had 2 strikers on from the start because the balance never seemed right in midfield. 3-1 is a good score for us though all things considered.

I didn't manage to see the game and I understand the performance wasn't great, but I don't think any of us can complain about a 3-1 win. Cracking result.

I would have like to see us playing 2 up front from the start . |

Yeah im pretty sure i heard them say another triple bill is on 5 in a fortnight with the same teams.
Whilst it may be a triple bill , it includes Spurs and NOT Villa ? Quote:

Should be a good derby game today...both teams play some good football. Hopefully Young and Carew will be fit for us - and I think he'll bring back Davies to play against his old club.

I personally would like to see Carew on the bench and bring him on later , so we can play this game on the floor with a good passing game.
I don't fancy Carew as a lone striker today Carew scores some vital goals but his pace lets him down for me Gabby is overdue for a great game and a goal or two I can imagine a race over 100 metres A Young V's Carew , the Hare and the Tortoise part 2 Ooop the Villa and thank goodness its on SS1 and not Setanta Edit :- Just heard , Carew starts , same starting line up as Thursday ? I guess M o N sees this as a must win local derby battle that needs the big men at the heart of it . |

The problem with Carew is he's very hit and miss. Some games (the derby against Blues in April) he looks like a world beater. His hold up play is brilliant, he takes people on and goes past them, his flick-ons find their man etc.
But then more often than not I agree he can be quite poor. He doesn't work particularly hard for the team either, which is a problem I have with our strikers - we never press the opposition defence. You don't have to do it for the whole 90 minutes but it'd be nice to see Gabby and Carew close them down once or twice, rather than standing by and spectating. |

I like this Villa team very much.
It's whatyou get when a good manager is given the breathing space to manage. A lot of clubs should be watching and learning. |

This is top notch Sunday lunchtime fare for the neutral. 2-1, plenty of needle. Slightly card happy Mike Dean.
Wish SKY did this 12 noon/2pm thing a bit more often. |

Are you sure about that
![]() I guess not A good goal , well taken and Carson chasing a lost cause .But again my concern , we go 2 up and let them back into it with a sloppy goal After Thursday and todays game I am starting to lose a little confidence in the Old man in goal after a resonibly solid start at times to his Villa career . Maybe its time to give the other Brad a go in goal ? I want to see us go for the 3rd and put them under pressure at 2 - 1 they are back in the game , at 3 - 0 they are under the cosh I good display from WBA though , are we at home or them ? ![]() Good to see Carson doing his statue act for Villa's second goal Ashley Young seems to have been told to play very deep and do a defending job ? |
