Glad that's out the way. Didn't expect anything, so not too disappointed by that result. Makoun MOTM. Friedel a close second.

Dunne and Downing were awful. Houllier needs to give them both a bollocking.

The next 11 games are easier, but it's still gonna be a tough road ahead.

I'm liking Makoun already! If Houllier can be bring more of that quality, we'll shape up to be a lethal force.

At least the other results tonight are positive for us.

Big game against Fulham tommorow who are on form at the moment so it'll be a tough game.

Win - The aim for Europe is still on
Draw - We can forget about Europe and focus on finishing top 10
Lose - Back to square one in a relegation battle

Fulham are on form but hopefully we can get the win at home. Looking at the fixture list our next five Premiership games are very winnable.

Fulham, Blackpool, Blackburn, Bolton and Wolves.

Today's game has been hyped by Villa as Michael Bradley's debut game, yet he hasn't even made the bench.

Dunne starts over Cuellar again. If he doesn't perform today, he needs to be dropped.

So far, so good.

I've heard some iffy commentary at times, but the one I'm listening to now has a right pair of idiots. One said Makoun was no better than Sidwell or NRC, then later said he was having an unimpressive game. Must be watching a different game/player to me then.

We still need a couple more goals. Fulham won't rollover with this current scoreline.

I knew Sidwell would come back to haunt us. Had a feeling that tosser Johnson would score too.

I knew they would equalize. We really should have done better in the first half FFS.

Walker you beauty.

See how things change rapidly when Gabby and Young are played in their best positions?! Come on, we need another goal to seal it.

We were poor. I'm not confident we're out of the relegation battle yet. Lose against Blackpool and uh oh.

Can't deny Fulham deserved their point. Friedel let us down badly today...this was a game we needed to win and we didn't. Still a lot of work to do yet.

Houllier needs to start playing players in their correct positions. Gabby is not a winger. Ash Young is not a striker. Sort it out.

Rant post below.

The teams below us are rightfully battling points. Some of them have a game in hand. We still have a much chance of going down if we're not careful.

Looking back, MON left at the worst possible time to save his ego over the club leaving us at a rocky transition and wasted millions on average players. Lost all respect for him and wished he never joined us. At least we're putting the stone age predictable performance behind us, but it's very hard to do it with these players.

Houllier still deserves abit of criticism. Wasting Gabby on the left wing who does **** all most of the time, Ashley in the middle wasting chance after chance and Downing on the right wing who can't cross properly. Continuing to give Dunne a chance over Cueller is unacceptable.

Now Fridiel had a bad game today, which was unforunate seeing as he did good against Man Utd, but I would prefer him not to make mistakes when we're winning. I think we we need to address a new GK in the summer because I feel his age is getting to him now. And a major revamp on the defence is required.

We MUST win against Blackpool next week for the sake of showing up Holloway as well. A draw is not required when teams below us will catch up if they win.

Very disappointed in the majority of the players and the manager today. For me it was 2 distinctly average teams just about good enough to survive but not good enough for the top half. Neither team deserved to win imo.
The only players to come out with credit today were Makoun, whose passing and link up play was very good fo the first 75 mins and Walker when he went forward. We created very little today which was worrying and the service to Bent was poor.
There is no harm in trying new formations but surely Houllier must realise by now that Gabby is no wide left player and Ash's passing is nowhere near good enough to play centrally. When Ash went wide for the final 15-20 minutes he caused problems and he needs to be played in his best position.
As for the crab, he must now be a French crab as he spent most of the time going backwards and not even sideways.
Friedel was at fault for both goals for again parrying the ball back into the danger area and for flapping at the second, but the defenders were also guilty of not closing down Sidwell, not reacting to the rebound and not marking Dempsey.
All in all a bad day at the office and a huge missed opportunity to get away from the relegation fight. I hope we do not set up so negatively against Blackpool next week.

I just checked the attendence and it's shocking AGAIN. I may book a game at VP before the season is over. Probably the Liverpool one. The others don't fill me with excitement.

This really should be his last season at Villa, 40 in May is a bit on the old side.

I hope our fans don't show any signs of banter towards Sian Massey in the Blackpool match. We wouldn't want Karren Brady labelling the whole club as deeply offensive to women in her column.

If there is any banter, I suspect it'll be aimed at Holloway rather than Massey.
