I've told you all season not to jump the gun and you'd be fine etc, wasn't believed, final standing of 9th proves me right.

I've just got back from the match.
![]() What a perfect day for us. All the results have gone in our favour giving us a worthy 9th finish and Birmingham have fell into the relegation zone on the last day. We couldn't stop laughing. Never in a million years did I expect Gary McAllister to give us back to back wins against Arsenal and Liverpool. Credit where it's due. I still don't want him here next season, but this should help him find future employment. I also think Gerard Houllier should call it a day. His health comes first. I wish them both all the best and hope we can find a new manager who'll push us on next season. I think we can look back at this season and say it wasn't that bad afterall.

The BBC site says you gained 3 million for the win...not bad!
Will Young go as we really need the sell-on fee. |

Would love Ancelotti as Villa boss. Slightly wishful thinking though, I suspect.

Even if Ancelotti wants to manage us, I don't think he'd be allowed to; Quote:
While the Italian wants to stay in England and is set to turn down the chance to return to former club Roma, Ancelotti will not be able to go back into management in this country unless there is a change of heart by the Chelsea hierarchy.
It's understood that under the terms of the three-year deal Ancelotti signed when he joined Chelsea in 2009, he is not allowed to work for another Premier League club within 12 months of leaving Stamford Bridge. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news...#ixzz1N6zkFbvA |

The Mirror talks crap. Why would he say he was interested in West Ham if he was unable to work in the country? It makes no sense.

So Chelsea don't want him, but nobody else in the league can have him for another season because they said so? That's utterly ridiculous. Could they actually do anything to stop him if he did decide to join us? Quote:

The last line says he's not allowed to work for another Premier League club, so he could probably take the West Ham job.

I wonder how long it will be untill the club confirms if Houiller is staying or going.I hope it's soon as I don't want it dragging on for weeks over the summer!

All the talk is that we will have to wait until next week at the earliest. I would imagine it will be at the start of June. That makes sense. All the football is finished with.

I wonder if there is any truth in these rumours about Friedal leaving Villa.I didn't think so at first but maybe the club would be happy to get rid of his big wages for next season

I think Friedel's going, and now Downing won't commit to a new deal.
So, potentially, we could be losing Friedel, Dunne, Collins, Reo-Coker, Ash Young and Downing this summer...which is over half our regular first team from this season. How can we be a force if we cannot retain our best players? It's over to you, Randy. Sort out the manager situation and then open your chequebook, because this summer could be the most crucial in a long time. |

It is time Randy Lerner took a long hard look in the mirror. What happened last summer was an absolute disgrace, which ruined our entire season and put Young out the door. Remember it was last year Young stated he wanted a new deal and was speaking to MON. Next thing MON is out the door and everything goes quiet.
It looks like the Americans do not have a clue at all about running a football club. Further proof by the fact they have kept this managerial circus going. And then they have the audacity to cry about attendances and season ticket sales? I said all along that next year it would be Downing out the door. That might just be this season. |

Downing isn't signing a new contract? I'm sure I read not so long ago he would stick with us even if we got relegated because we saved his career. I think this is the problem with modern footballers. You just can't believe a word they say anymore.
The manager situation is taking the piss now to be honest. |

To be honest though we have no strong leadership in the club so it's no wonder the players want to take off. They have no clue if Houllier is staying or going. It raises a massive question mark to their future and they're rightfully not going to sit around Houllier's fate. Any other well run club would have moved on by now. We hear that it'll be sorted out by next week, but there's also rumours flying around that it may take all the way to July. That is outrageous.
If we're in another relegation battle next season due to the amateurish work from the board, the fans will turn against them and rightfully so. I'd join with them. |

The legendary midfielders Moustapha Salifou and Isiaah Osbourne have left the club. We'll never forget them!
