Well that's Jol out of the picture. He was appointed in less than a week by Fulham. No fuss or nothing.
Well thats my chosen manager gone to a lesser club

AV favourite to get Smc who is never going to set Villa on fire

Lerner will not appoint McClaren as coach.

I am holding hope that it is in fact Moyes.

Great manager, will do wonders at Villa. All the best Rafa.

Though I don't think he will like the racism of Villa fans:

I wonder if they will bring this banner to his first game?

Calling him a Fat Spanish Waiter is racist, how?

And yes, I would actually like Rafa. I think he will work wonders with our youth. He is also a little bit mad, and I like that too.

Hopefully your supporters will treat this legend better than they treated Gerrard. Though from what ive seen of people on here calling him a "fat spanish waiter"...I guess that isnt going to happen.

Oh yes, because Liverpool fans treated Roy Hodgson with similar respect when they weren't picking up results, right?

You condescending fool.

If it is to be Rafa, then best of luck to him.

As long as he doesn't treat us like crap when he goes back to Anfield, and tries to win trophies rather than giving up because he thinks we can't beat our opponents, we'll get along just fine.

Dont want to start anything in a Villa thread but the roy situation was completely different. It wasn't just the results it was his lowering of expectations, the things he said in the media, his woeful signings bar Raul etc. And the reason we complained was because we were meant to be challenging for top 4 and yet we were 19th.

Villa were never so bad under Houiller. I think some Villa fans on here hve delusions of grandeur that they are a top 4 team...well you're not quite frankly. 10th-6th is where I see Villa.

Sky sources now saying Benitez will NOT become the new manager.

Who the **** is it going to be then? Ancelotti, Jol, Hughes, Benitez, McClaren have all been ruled out for varying reasons.

No, we were never so bad. We could have been relegated mathematically with 3 games to go.

And learn your facts before spouting crap. I absolutely detest arrogant individuals who spout facts yet they clearly do not know the facts.

Houllier was a public embarrassment thanks to his many interviews in which he said Villa should finish 10th, after we finished 6th three years on the trot.

And Liverpool were supposed to challenge for the top 4? Catch yourself on mate, they were never challenging for the top 4 under Benitez or Hodgson. They would be fighting for the Europa League spot.

Where have Villa fans said anything about we deserve top 4? The only one that has delusions about a right to the top 4 is yourself.

We don't keep harping on about past glories do we? Not at all. "Paisley this, Shankly that". Yeah, live in the now not the past.

From what I have read on a Villa forum a very, very trusted ITK has said maybe Villa fans should prepare for a Bent-esque meltdown mode.

I seriously think it is either Moyes or Ancelotti.

You catch yourself on. We were in the CL 2 seasons ago. We last won a trophy in 2006. Tell me...when was the last time Villa won a trophy OR were in the CL??

Hardly ancient history.

Face facts the Premier League has moved on since then. Liverpool are no longer a top 4 side. Why can you not just accept that? Arrogant twit.

Oh and then why is it that we are spending massively and most managers including fergie himself has said we are contenders for top 4 next year?

Yes, within the last two years Man City have cemented their spot in the Champions League for probably the next 10 years. Is that not true?

Wenger has to spend massively this year as well or risk losing his job completely, which he himself has acknowledged.

Oh, because Fergie said it then it MUST be true. Ironic really that a so called Liverpool fan is taking Fergies words as gospel. Bwahaha.

You know you shouldn't believe everything Fergie says.

Now now...let's all play nicely!

I seriously think it is either Moyes or Ancelotti.
Interesting. As popular as Moyes would be, I can't see him provoking a Bent-type reaction, though maybe that's just me. Ancelotti certainly would...but I'm not daring to get my hopes up again.

I don't think it's Moyes because Rooney implied he was on holiday.

Things are pointing back to Ancelotti. The whole situation screams of a smoke screen marquee appointment.

The media certainly don't have a clue anyway. Randy is the quietest man alive.

Nothing against Martinez, but (if this is true, of course) do the board really think he's the best candidate for the job?

Personally I think not good enough for this one. Just what you need a manager who's last acheivement was escaping relegation. My other half's a Wiganer and I remember him moaning about Martinez being out of his depth at Wigan, especially after following Brucie. I'm sure Mr Whelan would like the compensation though.
