Are you guys a bit worried he will fill the team with players with Rangers connections.
Cuellar will be going nowhere now. Barry Ferguson anyone ![]() I am sure Kenny Miller is ready to jump on an easyjet as soon as he makes the call ![]() Charlie Adam wouldn't go to Villa though, Ferguson maybe and Miller is unlikely. Bougherra or McGregor maybe with Cuellar going the other way. |

Why would they be worried about getting better players? Now if it was Dundee Utd connections....

Houllier did a poor job at man management, made some bizzare decisions and spoke nonsense half the time.
But I liked how he brought positive football, his strong connections and the youth setup. I would have prefered him to move move upstairs. If he was in that position I think we would have got a better manager for sure, while we had some strong pull in the transfer market. We won't get none of that with McLeish. I'll get behind him, but I'm done with the board. They've totally alienated the whole fanbase with their lies, hypocrisy and clueless antics. |

McLeish was nowhere near first on my list and I am far from convinced that he is the man to take us back into the top 6. I have also lost faith that the board have the real determination to do that either.
However, I do admire McLeish on a personal level and he is now the manager of AVFC so he has my full support until he does something to mess that up...which I really don't want to happen. Realistically, I am looking for a serious challenge for the top 6 and at least 1 good cup run. Any finish outside the top 8 would represent failure imo. |

Admire him for what? A massive pay increase and Premier League football? I just watched a bit of his press conference there and he does come across well, but then again he always has came across well. He needs to bring in a few quality players and get off to a good start, otherwise it will snowball from there and the season will be a disaster similar to last year. What he does have to his advantage is the fact that he will have a full pre-season under his belt, unlike Houllier.

when George Graham, went to Spurs despite winning the League cup in his first season he was never accepted by a lot of Spurs fans. I can see the same thing happening with Mcleish, at Villa, the only way he will win them over is to get off to a good start a bad start and he's going to have big problems.
...and having a lying canut for a chairman isn't going to help...after the bs he trotted out for not appointing mclaren, how could anyone put any faith in anything he says in the future ? |

Looks like he plans to bring a few of his old pals in. |

Anyone see McLeish's press conference yesterday? There's something about him that could positively surprise us.

I thought exactly the same thing.
He also held a meeting with a few fans earlier today. Would love to know what was said/asked. I greatly appreciate his efforts to try and impress the fans. |

That's my POV |

Sky Sports News are saying that Ashley Young is having a medical at Man Utd before his £15m transfer. He will be on wages of £130,000 a week at Utd!
I hope that transfer fee is wrong as with Watford sell on fee we will end up with a £3m profit which is pathetic! |

I think it's because he only has 1 year on his contract. So it's either sell him now or he'll go for nothing next year.

Hetal I know he has only got one year left on his contract but I still think £15m is a poor price if true especially if we have to pay the sell on fee to Watford!
Anyway The Sun website says Young is going for £20m and he will be on £100,000 a week. Then the BBC website says the fee is £17m for Young. So it seems untill it's officially announced we won't know the fee although I think they will say it's an undisclosed fee as they normally do! |

Glad to see our new sponsor doesn't have a crappy slogan underneath, unlike last year's abomination.
Looks pretty good on the shirt, though I'm still unsure about the check pattern we now have. I hope the Ash Young transfer fee is between £17-20m. Anything less than that is a dreadful deal, regardless of how long's left on his contract. We paid £9m for him and he's at least twice the player he was when we signed him. |

Totally agree Yoshi fan about your comments about Ashley Young.I'm thinking that a figure around £17m is correct!
Now that Young has gone McLeish needs to make sure he keeps Downing as if we lose him we are in trouble! |

The new sponsorship deal is rumoured to be around £8m a year. Good to see our deal reflects our stature as a club. |

More bad news!
It seems Downing wants to go to Liverpool (fair enough, we're a sinking ship) and Mat Kendrick has just tweeted we'll only use funds from the players we sell. Well apart from a goalkeeper who wouldn't cost much anyway. That's unacceptable. A load of players have already left. Randy, pack your bags and fly off back to America. You're a massive joke. |

So we've lost a few players that need replacing desperately. Downing could possibly be on his way soon enough as well. We're at July and nothing has been done transfer wise. Other clubs are doing something. Each day we're losing potential targets.
This is poor. |

After MON regularly took the piss with his delayed signings during the transfer windows he had, I'm willing to be patient with McLeish, especially as he's only been in the job a fortnight. Pretty confident the signings will start happening soon.
Whatever happens, it can't be any worse than last summer. |

I hope that signings start soon as if we don't we will be starting our pre season games with Guzan in goal!
Despite all these rumours about Downing I'm still hoping that either we refuse to sell or Liverpool refuse to pay the £20m for Downing! |
