Liverpool bid for Downing accepted.

They're welcome to him. Great player for us last season, but I can't forgive him for saying he was happy and willing to sign a new contract, then two weeks later he can't wait to leave the moment another (albeit bigger) club sniffs around. Bastard.

£20m from Ash and £20m from Downing. That's a nice £40m to spend. Up to you now, Alex...

It seems McLeish is interested in McGeady

Randy out. Awful decision maker.

McGeady? Dear God, is this what we've become?

I give it six months before Bent wants out too. Then we really are f**ked.

Have you also heard about we paid 3m towards Blues as well? Something to do with McLeish/ This is embarassing. I'm sorry, but I really want Randy gone. He is bloody awful. What was he thinking with this appoint and the fact he's making us a selling club that appears to be on our knees? What is he doing to us. I don't think I'm even overreacting as well.

Or £40m to put in Lerner's back pocket.

The thought had occured to me. Hopefully Lerner realises he's not exactly flavour of the month with us fans and decides to give McLeish at least SOME of it to spend. If he doesn't, he's finished.

I did read about us paying Blues...think it was compensation for McLeish and a couple of his backroom staff.

Nothing official yet, but there's strong rumours flying around that we're on the brink of signing N'Zogbia from Wigan for around £10m. Would be happy with that.

N'Zogbia would be a really good signing, I'm surprised that no other team has snapped him up.

Villa know how to string things out for example Shay Given a 35 year old with a shoulder problem that we have been told every day for two weeks is about to sign.

Yeah it seems that Given has been on the verge of signing for us for the past fortnight.I wonder what is holding it up!

I hope the rumours about Nzoigba and Parker are right as they would be two good signings to help fill left by Young and Downing leaving us!

We've agreed a fee on Given. I'm not sure about this. He is a good goalkeeper, but I'm concerned about his shoulder and the wages he'll be on. At least we've done something now.

I hope we get N'Zogbia before this week is over to end it on something positive.

So we're now selling Carlos Cuellar for 2 million. Why?

I think it's pathetic we're selling our best players without replacements. We're in the Premier League that gives a strong financial backing. It's no excuse to have a fire sale.

I would hate to think what Randy would be capable of if we were relegated. He's too shady for my liking now.

Hope we take Cuellar off your hands, would love to see the big man back although wages are still a stumbling block. Not looking good for Villa next year with McLeish in charge and losing good players. Even if he gets you top 8 it will no doubt be playing some of the worst football under the sun. It's almost like Randy Lerner is trolling the Villa fans.

Good luck for the new season though.

I don't consider selling Cuellar as a big loss as despite being a decent player he has only been a squad player in recent seasons at villa. We have youngsters who can come in and replace him easily!

Well it looks like Given is close to signing as Sky Sports News just showed him leaving Broadmoor Heath and signing autographs for fans!

They did say the Nzoigba deal is a long way off as a bid has yet to be agreed!

I agree, it was a huge mistake to let Nigel go.

5 year contract. That's ridiculous for a 35 year old.

At least we've signed somebody now! A solid GK.

McLeish has said at the Shay Given press conference that we are only making one more signing. We are in serious trouble if this true!
