The referee had a howler. The fact we had to rely on him slipping up says everything about the state of the club.

The only pluses I can take from yesterday is that Ireland impressed me in the second half. He had a few runs that reminded me of his time at City. Hopefully he can keep it up. He looked pissed off when we gave away posession yesterday and was arguing with Petrov for giving the ball away to QPR. Bannan and Ireland linked up very well in the second half. That could be a great partnership. Ireland linked up well with Robinho at City, who was small and had an eye for a pass. Ireland and Petrov simply does not work. Delph is well has been a let down, maybe that injury has ruined him. I had high hopes for that lad.

Alan Hutton has slipped up time after time. Did we really let Young go and bring this guy in?

N'Zogbia looks like a pub league player. The fact that SWP outplayed him says it all, as SWP is the king of running and running with the ball and delivering no end product. I've seen better ball control in the local park than I have from N'Zogbia this season. What a let down and waste of money so far.

Also, can anyone tell me why our defenders constantly hoof the ball up the field? You would expect defenders to do that to the likes of Peter Crouch, Jones, big target men at Stoke, not to the likes of Barry Bannan, Delph and Ireland. Absolutely bizarre.

Delph nearly cost us a goal. He is easily one of the worst players I've seen in a Villa shirt this season. Don't rate him at all.

Agreed. He's been awful...the only downside so far today.

2-0. I am so relieved to see Bent end his goal drought!

We finally beat Wigan at Villa Park, both Darren and Gabby scored and (for the time being) we're sixth.

No complaints from me today!

Finally a win....

I didn't know Gabby had it in him to be this good. Amazing form.

And I hope we drop Delph for the next game..Nearly cost us a goal and it's not the first time he's done it. Not only that, but he looks poor going forward.

Decent performance against a woeful Wigan. One of Gabby's best performances in a Villa shirt. The rest were ok, but we will not come across such weak opposition again more than once or twice this season.

Not a great result today, but I didn't really expect anything other than a defeat. Hopefully we can put it behind us and get three points vs West Brom next week.

Hopefully...

I don't know really, I kinda saw this a mile off, yet I hoped it wouldn't turn out this way. Still, West Brom? Should be a winner :s

Lol, its hilarious how much West Brom fans hate us. Jealous that they will always be in our shadows more like.

An easy 2-0 win today - Gabby x2

Can one of you lovely Villa fans give me a logical explanation as to why Chris Brunt has missed a penalty and Chris Herd has been sent off?

Phil Dowd continues to baffle me.

Cos Phil Dowd is the cancer of referring.

I don't think anybody can give a logical explanation.

The only one I can think of is that Phil Dowd is a useless **** who doesn't like Villa much.

Glad to see Carlos back on the pitch. He should replace Hutton on a full time basis. Very disappointing player.

Getting robbed by that fat **** Dowd again just like Carling Cup final.

Agreed. Hutton has been woeful for us so far.

Olson scores. He was destined to, wasn't he?

Goal from a corner again. Right before HT again. These bunch of players never learn do they?

The best we can hope for now is a draw. We can never seem to do well when we're down to 10 men.

I really am tired of this game. If you combine the fact we've hired a manager who I still find bizzare to this day, getting rid of our best players and the fact Man City are so far apart when just over a year ago we was competeing against them, it just makes you think what's the point in bothering. Modern football is ****ed.

Also how shit is N'Zogbia. You could build about 20 schools in Africa for the money we spent on that pile of shit.

N'Zogbia off for the legendary Heskey.

Great tactics.

I didn't expect a loss today a draw maybe but not a loss.

It's early days for McLeish but his win ratio of 22% so far with us in the Premier League makes him the worst Villa manager ever.

He's a shit manager thats hated by Rangers fans, where he won SPL titltes.

Our club has went to the bottom. Embarrassing, ownership, by foreign clueless pricks.

2 wins out of 9. I think by new year we'll be 15th or lower. I think the hatred for Randy Lerner will surpass Doug Ellis if we get relegated this season. There's no way the fans would tolerate the board making any further decisions if we're in a lower division and I hope we really give them a piece of our mind.

Twice we went ahead. Twice we threw it away. I despair.

Points per game:

Martin O'Neill: 1.63
Kevin MacDonald: 1.50
Gerrard Houllier: 1.24
Alex McLeish: 1.20

McLeish really is hopelessly shit.
