Yeah, he is hopelessly stupid. There's still not one Villa fan out there who can work out why McLeish was hired. You would think he may have wanted him on the cheap. Nope. He actually paid compensation (to our rivals ffs) to bring him here. You would think Randy was after an positive manager. Afterall, he hired Houllier and was after Martinez. But nope! After that, he does a U turn and hires an extremely negative manager. But wait....The club wants to make use of the academy sure McLeish is the answer for that? No, no no! He doesn't use the kids properly, he allows some of them to rot on the bench and sometimes dosen't even bother with them at all. Instead, he insists of using Heskey in midfield and that should be a criminal offence. Or maybe he was hired for Premier League safety. He has a laughable 2 Premier League relegations, 1 which was just last season who happened to be our neighbours. I just don't get this appointment at all. Randy Lerner does seem to have a bad reputation of appointments and he shouldn't be allowed to make the decisions.
Man Utd fans should have nothing to worry about in this weekend anyway. It's not going to be like last season where we were set up to win against you with our kids. McLeish will most likely set us up to park the bus with about 6 defenders and try not to lose. Also, if he does do that at Villa Park he'll get such a backlash from the fans. We won't accept shitty negative football and that's why McLeish coming here was stupid on so many levels even if you ignore the rest.

Listening to the game on Talksport and it's as I expected - boring and totally unimaginative.
With the run of games we have got between now and the next 5 weeks we'll be down by the relegation zone again for sure.

I'd rather have Mark Hughes, but right now I'd take Steve Bruce over McLeish. Even now, I still can't believe our idiotic board chose McLeish over Hughes.

This is the worst I've ever seen Villa play in my lifetime. Not just this game, I mean the season in general.

What do Villa fans expect when they were struggling to survive even last year when they still had Reo-Coker, Young and Downing? I accept that Young wanted to move to a bigger club, but the Villa board should've moved heaven and earth to keep hold of Nigel and Stuart.
We needed those three points with the fixtures we've got to come. Though I'm going to be (stupidly) optimistic and say we'll get at least one more win this year.

Then play had to be stopped when Darren Bent sent a carrier pigeon to his team-mates with a message to give him the ball, only for Richard Dunne to eat the pigeon with some roast potatoes and wash it down with a bottle of 1976 Pinot Noir. When play resumed Villa’s defence continued to hold firm in the face of no threat and attempted to smash the press box whenever they accidentally won the ball. Villa skipper Stilian Petrov had to have treatment for a neck injury and severe dehydration after running a total of 400 miles watching the ball sail over his head. Emile Heskey, playing in the midfield playmaker role, also had treatment for an injury to his hip after his left leg collided with his right leg and made him fall over. The half-time whistle was met with gales of laughter by the home support, which woke up the travelling support.
Villa improved marginally in the second half, with Heskey managing a shot which hit the fourth official in the shorts pocket and squashed his Snickers. Rover’s keeper Bevan was occasionally tested, but only by the Times Crossword which he had brought out for the second half. He completed it on 65 minutes and went on to do the sudoku before tearing the paper up and making an origami zoo. Darren Bent worked hard as always, spending the second half studying Rosetta Stone on his ipad - by the end of the match he was able to ask for a transfer in four different languages. On 72 minutes a pass from James Collins smashed a floodlight. Villa’s midfield was sorely lacking presence and bite; Stephen Ireland remained on the bench despite Alex McLeish’s claims that in training he was playing like “a man possessed by the spirit of George Best,” and Charles N’Zogbia was left out of the squad for missing his breakfast. Villa were reduced to ten men in the 75th minute when Alan Hutton was dismissed for a reckless two-footed studs-up challenge that demolished the snack bar and wrote off sixty sesame seed buns and thirty-five polystyrene cups and broke the glasses of a man in the queue. No, I haven't? Should've probably guessed though...it seemed strange he was suddenly declared "injured" before today's game. I imagine Bent has probably got pissed off with McLeish's lousy negative tactics which are denying him any decent scoring oppurtunities.
