By buying the last 4% he does not have to inform the 4% shareholders of interest in a takeover, or anyone else until it is done.
Whilst I do not want to get your hopes up, there have been rumours that a group in Qatar want to buy a club in England. They were apparently interested in Everton but didn't want to buy a new stadium which they desperately need.
We have world class training facilities, history, we own our own ground and next to an airport.
It was reported last month QIA approached Venkys offering £4m to each member to sell + giving them back the fee they paid and writing off their debts but they said no. That was reported in the Lanchashire Times, a respected paper in the region.
Somethings going on..there was a report last month on a Villa forum that Lerner had approached the group, could be bullshit, but on Saturday someone else posted a message saying we were being sold to QIA.”
I'm refusing to get my hopes up, but I'd love this to happen. I must admit I'd feel a tad hypocritical given that I've been fairly unimpressed and critical with Man City throwing billions around, but right now I just want to see my poor club out of the doldrum it's in. So fingers crossed hoping it's true.

I still respect Lerner for what he did in the first five years (even appointing Houllier...it didn't work, but I understood why he was appointed), but many of us just can't forgive him for appointing and backing McLeish. Even many non-Villa fans are feeling sorry for us and saying what a poor manager he is, so I think that says it all. While he hasn't been a bad owner (and still isn't...I'd rather him than the chicken farmers at Blackburn), it's clear he doesn't have a clue about running a football club, and that's a big problem.
