The cancer is removed. All about compensation payoffs. Frankly he should compensate us.

I suggested Lambert as soon as MON left. To get him now would mean providing a good transfer kitty otherwise he may as well stay at Norwich. Realistically we are now aiming for top half at best so we will not attract a top name given Randy's reluctance to spend. Therefore, I think we will have to look at an up and coming manager in the Lambert, Rodgers, Poyet mould although it would not surprise me if we end up with someone like Curbishley. Whoever it is, we all want an end to the dreadful, negative football of this season.

Even someone dull as Curbishley is a major step up from McLeish.

They can't really do any worse this summer.

Even Avram Grant would be.

You can have Mickey P as your new manager, surely he would still be a step up from Alex M?!!

....well no one's mentioned Steve Bruce yet (edit: snap!), I bet he has already got his application in, such is his desperation to get back into management in the Premiership.

Lets face it though, unless Lerner gets his cheque book out and stumps up for at least half a dozen decent players then it's not going to matter who Villa's manager is.

Stan Collymore just tweeted this.

Alex Mcleish and Villa have parted company. "Times up" from the man himself. CONFIRMED.

Hooray at last.

First time I've seen Villa fans smiling in months. We deserve better. Now go get bloody Lambert and get this club back on track.

deserve better???, this is the problem with Vile fans, delusions of grandeur, why do you deserve better?? You loved MON, he was the 'messiah', minute he left didn't have a good word to say about him, i'm expecting the bedsheets and crayons to come out in a months time if vile fans dont agree with the appointment.

Of course we deserve better considering we finished 6th three years on the trot. Nobody deserves the cancer that is McLeish, only scummy clubs with inbreds like his previous employers that he relegated twice and who are financially screwed.

All this summer needs now is for WBA to come knocking for Houghton. That would be excellent. Come back and debate football when your team are even on the same standing, or even playing in the same league.

Well we've got what we wanted now lets hope Lerner has 'Learned' from this season and realises that you can't penny pinch in the premier league.
He needs to put a bit of cash back into the club and get either Lambert or martinez for next season.
Rafa Benitez will only come if there is big money to spend, although i'm not sure if this is the way to go?

If Lerner really want us to hate him he'll probably get Steve Bruce

You're clearly a kid who hasn't the mental ability to debate football, you're bitter because he managed blues, very sad. If Houghton went to WBA i'd be delighted, dont think the Baggies would be though, appointing a washed up ex pro media man.

I'm clearly a "kid" because I have the word "Kid" as part of my forum name. A round of applause for you sir, on creating that academically, fascinating, theoretical hypothesis. I am not the guy going around calling fans "vile" because they support a team called Aston Villa. Oh my, you can rearrange letters of the alphabet and create a new word as a supposed insult. Now back into your corner you clever little dickens.

Anybody else getting the impression were gonna be in just as much shit next season?

Mick McCarthy is now pretty much a front runner.

An Onmi-Shambles is on the cards

A manager that I think would be a good fit for Aston Villa and that's Gianfranco Zola

He plays good attractive football and is not afraid to bring the youngsters through, very well respected in the game and he'd certainly put bums on seats.

Ray Wilkins would be a good shout as Zola's number 2.

Could be Solskjaer! On Villa Talk, there's someone who knows where Randy Lerner is heading and it's in Norway. He's after a young vibrant manager with PL playing experience. Who else has that in Norway?

This would be awesome if it happens!

Not to mention the possibility of some decent loan players from Man U

Not sure what to think regarding OSG. Would certainly be an interesting gamble and I do hear he's been a big success as a manager in Norway. He also undoubtedly knows the Premier League. Lambert's still my #1 choice, but if it's OSG then I'm 100% behind him.

Though I'm sure I remember last year that Lerner had flown to Italy and everybody believed we were getting Ancelotti.
