The major thing I like about Lambert is he always tries to win games. Sure we'll get thrashings along the way but it's a major improvement over the negative stuff we've had to endure in the last few years.

I wonder of the young energetic legs that Lambert is trying to develop in the Villa squad was actually a bit much for the flashiness of City, especially in the latter part of the game when we seemed to press harder.
I think we're in for a season where we have some spectacular wins and some unexplained losses. Lambert does seem the man though and I confess to being happy with him. |

I'm glad Lambert's rotating because it means players who were benched get more hungry as we've seen with Bent today.

Mixed game today. There were times when we looked very good and there were times when we looked like we were made of jelly...very wasteful at times. Given the way the match went, I'm quite relieved for the point.
I suspect it's going to be a frustratingly inconsistent season but I can definitely see the improvements under Lambert already. Rhumble, your definition sums it up brilliantly!

Compared to recent seasons, I thought Villa's starting eleven were a refreshing change from the past seasons. I was really impressed with the whole team. I only managed to see the first half though.

Yeah I'm worried as well but hopefully Lambert can sort things out with him this week when they have talks!
I am worried about the game against Spurs on the weekend especially after how well Spurs played against Utd! |

One win from seven the football might be better to watch than last year but the results are worse.

.....i dont know whether im overlooking the results because we have a new manager and it takes time.....but the squad is still not good enough imo....i just hope there are 3 teams worse than us because we could be in another relegation scrap

Yeah, I'm trying hard to be positive but 1 win in 7 (excluding the Cup games) is a woeful start. There's definite improvements, but we need to get some results soon, else we'll be in trouble.

Starting to get a little bit nervous now...we just don't look like getting results. Anything but a win next week v Norwich and I think we're ****ed.

...........Sadly we look candidates for relegation.Theres a possibilty Bent might want to leave aswell. We need some more players in january, the squad is not big enough or good enough at the moment |

We really require a victory against Norwich because while we may scrape a draw away to Sunderland I can't see us getting anything from the three games after that.
Man Utd, Man City & Arsenal. |

I love the Villa but I'm pretty much indifferent about our future because I know sooner or later we'll get relegated. It's just been a declining mess.
I didn't even bother to watch the match today. I didn't even bother to check the score on my phone until about an hour after the match ended. I looked and shrugged. Pretty much bored of what's going on now. |

Getting bored and sick of football now. Same old shit every year, the fans are treated like mugs by the hierarchy who think we are all docile pigeons. I've never forgiven the lot of them over the McLeish bullshit that has really put me off. Then you have the wages the moaning, selfish gits are on. Makes you sick considering some families are losing their homes on a weekly basis.

Huge, massive, enormous game today! We really need to win this, especially given our next few fixtures.
Although the effort is there this season, sadly the quality has not been there, so far. I am hoping that most of the new signings will prove to be Premiership quality, but I have my doubts. I was amazed to hear that El Ahmadi supposedly thinks that we have deserved more in every game apart from the Everton one (and presumably the Swansea one as we did actually win!). I think we have exactly the number of points that we deserve and we have not been hard done by in any games to my recollection. We really need to go for it today against a dodgy Norwich defence. I want to see Bent and Benteke up front plus at least 1 proper winger. At the moment I think we will win, but come 12.45 I will probably have changed my mind! |

Think home games will be important for you lot, bar the Everton mishap you've picked up points on your own turf in every home game, stop crapping yourselves its only October, so many teams have had terrible starts and then go on to have late flourishes, Norwich were the same last year, didn't win any in 12 games.
Benteke is Premiership quality, there is a reason he's in that Belgium side and he's only 21 I rate him better than Bent, as is Holman, he was practically AZ's best player last season. |

This is depressing stuff.......if i'm honest i can see us being relegated this season
![]() ![]() I haven't seen much if us this season, so i hope someone can put me right,,,,what is our style of play under Lambert?,,,so far whenever we have gone a goal up we seem to panic and put everyone behind the ball and just defend for the rest of the game, usually conceding. Small squad full of youngsters does not fill me with confidence. I hope Lerner realises that next years premiership money increases so we need to stay up, so i hope he spends some money in january because we need some premiership quality players ![]()

6 points in 9 games is a piss poor return when you consider the starting fixtures were generous for us.
Last season we had to depend on other teams dropping points because we couldn't depend on our own team doing the job. But this time will be a different story and it'll show why we don't deserve to stay in this league. What's scary is that next season in the league they'll be a 70% increase in TV money which means even the lower teams will be strong financially. So say if the likes of Wigan stay up while we go down they could have a stronger team than us for years and years. I can't see us jumping up back to the league either. We'll be the likes of Leeds, Nottingham Forest, Shef Wed etc especially if Randy Lerner who has royally screwed us up is still in the club. I hope the fans actually show discontent in regards to that incompetent man by chanting him out when they have sit and watch dross on a Friday night. He really needs a taste of the Villa wrath because for far too long he's had it easy with all the scapegoats he's had. |

Your owner just sold the Cleveland Browns as of last week to, and I kid you not, a new owner who is a fan of their rival Pittsburgh Steelers. Note that Cleveland is 1-6 (for those who don't follow the NFL there are only 16 games in a year).
So that bastard Lerner will probably try to wash his hands from this mess, too. |
