I'm all for selling players on big wages that are basic sqaud players, we have had a lot of those in the past........but when you decimate the whole team of any real quality and experience and not invest or strengthen the team in the areas needed, and try to have a team on the cheap, then unfortunately we will keep getting caught out against better teams.
The one bright spark is that the youngsters are trying to play good football and a whole season together can only make them a better team, but if i'm honest i think we are in for a long hard season if there is no investment in January

A good performance from the youngsters that they can be proud of

I wouldn't say it's something to be proud of. Arsenal were extremely poor by their standards yet we didn't capitalize a win. I don't think I've seen them that poor in my lifetime.

We were worse against Norwich! We were there for the taking tonight, most teams would've beaten us.

A point is more than I thought we would get and out of the relegation zone.

Next three games against Reading, QPR and Stoke in years gone by I would see those games as an easy seven points possibly nine but who knows these days.

Lambert has to get Villa winning because two wins from thirteen games is pathetic.

It's a point I'm happy to take...had you offered it me before the game I'd have snapped it up. Need to take that positivity and performance into the next three games v Reading, QPR and Stoke.

One of these days, we'll win a match comfortably!

Needed that win desperately.

That was hardly a fun match to watch was it!

Desperately didn't cover it, you could see the relief in Lambert when he hugged Benteke.

Job's not done tho, we still need to beat QPR and start building momentum!

Your team outplayed arsenal at the weekend at times villa are a decent side and it will come together sooner than later

Our academy is overrated. I'm sick of seeing someone like Bannan playing. Lambert really needs to buy more of his own players this Jan.

wasn't the best game to watch and it was pretty clear why both teams are struggling as there was a distinct lack of quality I'm not sure Aston Villa deserved to win but you took your chance in a game of very few genuine shots on target.

Ok result considering our record against Redknapp's teams but unacceptable performance. Why didn't Lambert try and win the game?

I also want to know why is Ireland now being left out of the game? The same as Bent? We need quality on the pitch because our academy just doesn't cut it at this level.

I think that whatever Lambert's problem with Bent is, he needs to put it behind him until he's sold. I was utterly stunned when he brought on Derrick Williams for his debut...nothing against the lad, but this was the worst team in the league and Redknapp's appointment wasn't going to immediately change that, so we should've been going for a win. Likewise Ireland...we improved when he played vs Reading, but today he was kept on the bench in favour of bloody Delph.

Still behind Lambert fully, but he needs to start properly answering a few questions about why two of our better, more senior players are being left on the bench all the time. The youngsters might come good eventually, but right now we're still in a dangerous place and can't rely on them to save us. January window is going to be crucial.

Home and Ipswich. I'd take that. Better than playing Utd.

Seeing Lamberts press conference where he was discussing what was going on with Darren Bent made me think that it has more to do with the money situation and how much we will have to pay if he plays a couple more games, than a playing situation.

Lambert stumbled his way thorough his answers and not really giving a good enough explanation makes me think Bent will definately be sold in january. If this is the case i hope the money raised can be spent on improving the overall squad

Yes!

Why can't we translate this to the league?

I just hope you don't repeat what your local rivals did a couple of years ago.

I would rather take Chelsea (if they get through) than have Phil Dowd as the ref. I still won't forget when he cost us the 2010 Carling Cup against Utd when he kept Vidic on the pitch when it was a clear sending off. Yet even to this day he is still allowed to ref us and carries on being diabolical. How sad I fear him more than any team out there...

Seconded. I despise him...every time I see him referee us, I despair.

You've got some decent young strikers there..no wonder Bent isn't certain of his 1st team place.

I'd say Benteke is more than decent. He's just turned 22 and is already our best player. Fantastic bargin.

Yes..he does seem like a very good player with massive potential.

Another find from Belgium as well.
