Aerial Connectors

I have a rather annoying problem.

Downstairs we have Virgin box (not v+) and a dvd recorder and are connected to tv and I can record off both virgin and 1,2,3,4,5.

Previously I had sky+ and had a tvlink box which sent the signal to 2 tv upstairs.

I understand the tvlink was powered by sky+, so now I have a 4 boosted signal powered by mains.

The instructions say that I need to connect outside aerial to the input and then I can send the signal upstairs by putting the 2 upstairs connectors in the booster box. This works fine.

But on the downstairs tv I don't have 1,2,3,4,5 which is annoying as I can only record and watch virgin.

I am not sure how I should have my cables connected and I have tried to find the right combination but I cannot seem to get there.

Can anyone please help.

Cheers

Pure

It's very simple. Just plug a cable from one of the spare sockets on the booster amp to the aerial socket on the TV. And if you like you can use the remaining socket to feed the recorder.

I am assuming you have the Virgin box and recorder connected via SCART to the TV? So that means there is no need to try and daisy chain the aerial through the various boxes.

Since puremagic is trying and failing to record terrestrial channels off the aerial it is obvious that either he/she does not have the cables connected properly or there is some problem.

The following will work unless one of the cables/amplifier output is broken.

amplifier output ---> DVDR aerial input.
DVDR aerial output --> TV aerial input.

the amp accepts an aerial input from the aerial

it then sends the signal downstairs

it then comes back upstairs to the amp with virgin/sky signal encoded in it

it THEN goes to other rooms

not all amps are like this however and its usually number 1 that would go downstairs and when it comes back up it has a certain socket to go in.

it is confusing to say the least and manufactors should make it easier to understand.

Of course it gets even more confusing if you just dont need to pump virgin/ sky throughout the house as you dont need a signal back to the amp

Sorted. I got some coxial cable and the right connectors. Working fine upstairs and on the main tv. The DVD channel 1-5 is fuzzy, might be a the connector isnt quite right.

Thank you so much for your help.

Cheers Pure.
