It is still getting very good ratings. BUT! AI will get lower than expected ratings for the next series if they don't mix things up because the format is getting stale.

The American audience are a lot less forgiving than us when it comes to TV. If they find something boring..... They will switch over.

Well, well, well, what a shocker this week. I'm not a Carly fan but I really thought Jason would have gone this week. I really like Jason but he was terrible this week and I just thought he would have been voted out. Pleased he wasn't though!

Unpredictable results shows are more interesting to watch!

i don't know where my reply went to this, but anyway it amazes me when i see dwindeling ratings stuff on this when they get almost 30 million viewers and it grows toward the end and a really good drama series feel just fine and like they get a great audience number with half of the viewers. greedy. betcha they are kicking themselves for turning down the show though and letting FOX have it.

Actually that's not really true - the executives are more likely to axe a show in its infancy if it is not an instant hit while our execs will bring something back to give it a chance, but once a show is a hit in the schedule it seems to sit there for decades and decades, like Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy which are still big hitters in primetime US TV. Audiences tend to tale off faster in the UK - I think this is because relatively speaking each show gets a smaller audience in the USA and while the early viewers get bored and leave new ones come in to fill their place.

Wheel and Jeopardy aren't in prime time and are syndicated shows. Can't really compare their ratings to prime time. Both game shows do very well for a syndicated show, though.

I can see Idol ending in a few years...but the bigger question is will they launch an X Factor like show immediately...wait a season or two...or never?

I believe she will have some kind of career anyway-regardless of the image. Winehouse is doing ok.

I wish her all the best. Coming sixth is just as good as winning for me anyway.

they are still played in prime time slots in some areas..also other competative shows are against AI.

im not a fan of Carly's, not really bothered she has been eliminated .....but yeh coming 6th may not be bad at all, look at Kellie Pickler she came 6th and i think is one of the most successful contestants from that year after Daughtry

yes, i noticed this after...i guess people just have to watch the threads they click on. i saw spoiler tags in this thread and requests for it so thought differently at first.

Well we all make mistakes sometimes, best be careful next week and make sure you enter the correct thread.
