I want an LCD TV with a gloss style screen

I want to get a new LCD TV for my kitchen. Because of the location I want it to have a gloss style panel so that it will be easy to clean from splatters and general kitchen grease etc. This is important for me and the reason why I would like your advice.

I have looked online and it is impossible to tell whether the LCD TVs on the sites are a gloss or matt style and it seems that the only way to see one is in Currys or Comet. (it would be cheaper to buy online though)

I would like it to have Freeview and maybe a DVD built in. A 17" would be ideal but I don't think they exist so therefore a 15" (without a DVD) or 19" with one built in would be nice. (This is due to the height restriction of the only place I can put it in the kitchen).

Does anyone know of a good TV that meets my spec?

I have seen a Hitachi 15" (exclusive to Currys) with Freeview but no DVD and a Proline 15" with Freeview and DVD (Comet's own make but I am unsure about the quality).

Ideally I would like a reputable make.

I think you'll be hard pushed to find one, tbh. Glossy screens are tolerable on a laptop but would be horrible on a TV.

That said, I understand why in your situation you'd want this. Have you considered getting a local glazier to cut a sheet of glass and polish the edges? It should be easy enough to mount, and could be removed for cleaning.

Not a bad idea. I might just look into that! I'll have to look properly at the mounting issue though wrt glass or perspex.
