had all my guinea's & the bunny out on the grass yesterday afternoon while i cleaned one of their hutches. when i was finished & trying to wrangle them all home i noticed some while stuff on the grass

still wearing my gloves from cleaning the hutches, i poked it, expecting it to be a watery fluid, shock when i poked it & it was hard

following that i checked all the pigs & honey bunny as i put them away, got to my last sow & her rear end was wet and covered in the stuff

anyone have any ideas as to what this could be?

the boars were chasing her around, so at first i thought it might have been "them" but this was before i found that it was hard

nope, was nothing like chewing gum
i'd liken it to cheese if anything

it's definitely come from one of these guys
can't have been from anywhere else as it wasn't on the grass when i put them down there was nothing in the hutch either so i dunno

Could it be sex juices?! I know you say it was hard but how long were they out of the cage for?

Guinea pigs also produce a natural creamy substance from the vaginal area after ovulating, however this is not prolonged and in such small amounts that it usually goes unnoticed by the owners.

I think it sounds ok and their wee will show up on grass more because of the colour difference compared to when they are in hay etc.
I was shocked when one of mine wee'd on me (on a white blanket) and it was a pink colour, but apprently their wee when dry can change colour.
But if in doubt take to vet, can never do any harm, good luck.

Blimey, are you not concerned about the female becoming up the duff if she is running with the boars? Or have either of them had the snip

i breed them, pet shops are always happy to take the pups

and wee?
really?
i've had them pee before though, on the grass
why would it go solid?
:s

the vet would probably be a good idea, would be the first time i've ever had to go in with a guinea

only thing is, i can't actually afford to take her until next month
had to get the dog's boosters done & it wiped me out
