Anyone else watching their weight at the moment?
As summer is approaching (so they tell us
), I've decided its time to get in shape!!!Have decided to ditch the crap and wondered if anyone else is doing the same? Thought we could share tips, offer messages of support or else bemoan what food we miss ![]() I lost 3 stone by following a low GI plan and have managed to maintain a healthy weight for 18 months now, although I've let things slip of late! With my holiday fast approaching I'm determined to get myself into peak physical condition to look good on the beach ![]() So are you guys all generally healthy eaters? Naturally thin or do you not worry so much? RG22 |

I'm trying to watch my weight but am finding it difficult to get the motivation this week being so horribly busy with work so I have put off the diet til Monday.
Trouble is, i've said that a few times recently ![]() Got my holiday all booked for 29th June, and my Dad's 50th bday party is 28th June. He's having a luau theme, so I have to be in shape so I can wear a grass skirt / coconut bra combo. I find I constantly worry about my weight. I have been considerably heavier than I am now, I lost 4 stone but have let 1 stone slide back on gradually. I will definately shift it before the party/my holiday but I just can't get the inclination right now ![]() When's your holiday RG22? |

I guess its silly as I am not big {in fact I'm pretty slim} its just that I feel unhealthy and a not quite at my best? Doesn't help that its my first holiday with my BF, who is tres lean and fit, and after trying on my bikini's this week I just felt ikky ![]() I love my food though so am not about to start under-eating or anything, just making sure I eat the right things and exercise a bit. So where ae you off to SM? And your Dad's party sounds excellent ![]() Well done on the 4 stone btw - did you do it with help or by yourself? |

I worked out quite a bit last week but didn't eat very well, this week I have eaten OK but no exercise! Well I say I have eaten OK, more like I have eaten OK to a point ![]() I just love food so much, and I love to cook too which doesn't help. Yeah i'm not big either, i'm a 12 but at the mo my clothes are feeling a little tight and I prefer them to feel on the loose side really. Bought loads of new bikini's for my hols cause I thought that would motivate me but sadly not I lost my 4 stone on WW - over the course of about 18 months. But it doesn't seem to work for me anymore! We've both got a while til our holidays - definately long enough to shape up and look gorgeous! |

I'm off to Polis in Cyprus, I have been before, a few years ago now and I cannot wait to go back. Where abouts are you off to?

How weird - I'm off to Protaras in Cyprus , I've been before too, worked a season in Paphos many years ago which was interesting ![]() Only booked on Monday, hence the mad rush to 'get into shape'. As you say though still plenty of time to go.... And I hope I can keep up my enthusiasm for exercise - I hate it!!! I love to cook and I love my own food, plus my BF is one of those annoying lean blokes who can eat whatever he wants and never put on a lb , I have to work hard to keep in shape!!! Having a goal makes it much easier though!! I've never done WW, did the low GI things through Tesco Diets (all on-line) and lost my weight pretty quickly? Was at goal weight within 6 months and lost another half a stone gradually after that. I guess weight is subjective, I have a teeny friend and in my bigger days she would complain about putting on a lb , I didn't realise that as she was so tiny lb was quite a big deal ![]() Anyway - back on topic!!! I've ditched my normal buttery toast in the morning (and I really miss it) and have been having fruit and yoghurt, also trying to have less carbs in the evening. I'm looking forward to a big, juicy bacon sarnie (with cheese!!) come Saturday

We booked it a couple of weeks ago, i've been trying since then to get the motivation. I'm feeling pretty motivated at the mo to be honest, but it always wears off before I get home!Think I will get the exercise equipment out tonight at least. Maybe even hang up my new bikinis to remind me I want to fit into them ![]() My boyf is like that too Mmm buttery toast, yummy. I think half my problem is I always skipped breakfast. For the past week I have been making myself have breakfast. I have been having Porridge with Raisins. It's actually been quite yummy. I have also bought tonnes of fruit which I keep in my office for snacks - stop me thinking of sweeter alternatives. For lunch I am trying to only eat salad with a little brown rice and meat but yesterday I had forgotten the shopping so I had to have jam on toast ![]() I find the evenings are the hardest! I have my boyf round for dinner and he doesn't want to eat healthy stuff. I try to keep it semi healthy but I always end up wanting to impress him with nice food and making something which is just terrible for my diet just cause I know he will enjoy it! |

He wants to get healthy too, but his version of healthy still includes a hell of a lot of crap. Ah to be able to eat whatever you want and never put on weight. I keep telling him it will catch up with him later in life To be honest I've found it easier to get myself motivated as my BF is working away so is only home at weekends for the time being - boredom drove me to exercise LOL. Once I get into the habit though I'm sure I can manage 3 - 4 work outs a week and still have my girly nights out. I have been showing off my cooking skills since we moved in together, luckily I cook quite healthy stuff anyway - although I do love my carbs and tend to always "ruin" a healthy meal with a carb hit. Mash, roasties, pesto pasta - oh I could eat the lot together ![]() My problem is booze, I do love a glasss or two of wine and I've been out a lot lately and had people round so I find that I am drinking far too much! Back to voddy and diet coke me thinks.... |

Hmm, not a very good education from his mother!! We eat with his parents most Sundays and the plate is always loaded with carbs She seems to love anything stodgy!!Carbs are the enemy - I love them so much though. Mmm roast potatoes, really buttery mash, jacket spuds with tonnes of tuna mayo. I had pasta last night but in my defence I made my own sauce so that was atleast healthy!I'm really lucky in that I don't drink an awful lot. Actually that's an understatement, I don't drink at all really. The odd glass of wine at family events and the odd cocktail when the boyf takes me to Chiquitos (mmm nachos and bbq ribs) and that's about it really. I always used to be a big drinker, but my boyf doesn't drink at all and I think he's rubbed off on me a little bit! |

![]() Sometimes you do stop losing for a bit, which can be so difficult and it makes you want to quit the diet but don't!!! I successfully started a diet just before easter, first week I lost 5 lbs, second week put on 1lb. I was so disappointed I ate to cheer myself up and I put the other 4lbs on too. Now I am back at square one

Needless to say everything fell into place pretty quickly. But I'm still nervous about the first holiday and want to look my best Takeaway's can be healthy if you know what to eat I guess? I haven't had a takeaway in months but have more than made up for it in choccie and crisps ![]() Yep, drinking is my downfall - although I can be pretty disciplined when I put my mind to it and my BF isn't a huge drinker so hopefully his influence will rub off on me when he is back home!!! I managed to have my first carb-less meal last night, I'm not cutting out carbs full stop though - I'd miss them too much. Holiday's are the way forward - enjoy them whilst you can!! Since moving into our flat we've been pretty skint so wasn't even sure we would get away this year!!! |

The more weight you lose and the closer you get to your 'ideal' weight the harder it becomes to lose!! Plus exercise turns fat to muscle and muscle weighs more. Also as you exercise more you may actually need to take more calories!!! 1 1/2 stone is an excellent loss, you've done really well. Why not vary your exercise? For EG if you run now why not try swimming? Also make sure you eat a balanced diet - I'm trying to reduce my carbs and maybe have a few evening meals a week without carbs but I'd never cut them out altogether!!! Drink plenty of water and try for your 5 portions of fruit and veg a day! Stick with it, you'll get there in the end

I tend now to stick to the wholemeal / brown variety. I haven't had white bread, pasta or rice for as long as I can remember. It's become second nature and I now actually choose the wholemeal option as I prefer it ![]() As I say I'd go mad without any carbs!! |

Probably ate up my calorie intake for like a week!!!We're certainly enjoying the holidays whilst we're able. Thinking of moving in together next year so it's all about the holidays right now! We weren't going to go on a summer holiday cause we went skiing in February but we changed our minds cause the weather is so rubbish here we can't guarantee sunshine! This is it, I have to do something. I need to stop sitting around feeling fat. Diet on Monday - no putting it off again. Going to start exercising at the weekend too... will get all the gear ready tonight. Might take a photo of myself in my bikini and keep it with me to remind me why I don't want to eat sweets and carbs

i'm far far away from my ideal weight but it's already becoming hard. but i'm sure the increasing muscles are making it seem as though i'm not losing as much as fat as i, in fact, am.
just vegetables, no potatoes, rice etc. Well at least you've lost some weight! I know people that had trouble to begin with so just gave up!! You know that you can do it, so hopefully when you feel really down that thought can spur you on!!! As I say try varying how you exercise and also make sure you take enough calories - if you exercise every day you will need more than someone who exercises 2/3 times a week. If you are eating no carbs at all then I strongly recommend that you include at least some. Cutting out entire food groups is never a good idea. As long as you don't overload on carbs they are fine to have when you are dieting!!! Are you doing this alone? Or have you joined a support group? RG22 |

Are you finding that you're food is becomming a bit repetitative? If so maybe you just need to jazz things up a little. You need to look at it as changing your way off life instead of just looking at this as a diet? You need to accept that the process is slow, and there will be times when you feel like crap and lose sight of the goal.... However having lost weight on your own already, use this as a basis to push forward. Do you feel and look better? Heathier? Of course you do and you will feel and look even better if you continue. Do you have anyone you can exercise with? Any pals that may wish to join you on your new healthy 'regime'? |

i certainly have noticed some changes. my blood pressure has returned to normal (also helped by my having given up smoking three months ago). my clothes are now very loose; i can barely keep my trousers up.
i go to gym every other day with my brother. but i find the main thing for me is blasting music through my ipod when i'm there. then the time passes very quickly. |
