New VOIP Provider Needed

I am currently with Vonage which has served me well but it appears from today that they have a fair use policy. The limit of 2000 minutes is not good enough for me especially when I make a lot of calls to the US.

Vonage Fair Usage Policy
If during any monthly billing cycle you exceed the fair usage limits set out below we may terminate your service immediately or, at our sole discretion if we consider it appropriate, we may suspend your service and offer you an alternative call plan applicable to your usage. If having offered you an alternative you do not agree to move to the new call plan we reserve the right to terminate your service immediately. Termination charges apply.

Fair Usage Limits
The following fair usage limits (with the exception of any specific call plans listed below) apply to all call plans, including those pre-dating the current version of this Fair Usage Policy.

The service is subject at all times to a limit of 2000 minutes in aggregate during each monthly billing cycle for outgoing inclusive calls to international countries specified in your call plan and for outgoing inclusive calls when calling UK landline numbers starting with 01, 02 and 03.

Calls included in your call plan have a maximum call duration of 4 hours per call, after which time the call will be disconnected.

Me too, anyone out there can help us. It BT broadband talk any good ?

To avoid having to give out yet another VOIP number that may in future change is there a simple way for incoming calls to be via my BT number and outgoing to be via VOIP ... using the SAME dect handset.

Personally I went to skype in the end as 10000 minutes fair use a month is plenty for me as I will use nowhere near that and most important to me my calls to the US will remain free which is the thing I need most. Vonage have peed off a lot of people by doing this from what I've read.

Been surfing around this afternoon, given that I'm only calling in UK (and I have skype out credit if I need to call abroad), why am I doing this VOIP thing ?

BT unlimited anytime plan is less than Vonage at £5.95 /month and has mobile calls at just 5p/min rather than 10p in evening and 9p rather than 15p during the day.

Hi - in this summer and autumn we are establishing a high quality highspeed VoiP network in 14 European countries. We have already opened in the USA, Canada and Puerto Rico last year.

We will not only provide you with voice services, but we are to become the only company that provide videoservices, as in videophones with high quality.

Today we are the Worlds largest directselling telecom provider, and we offer wired and wireless/mobile services too.

You should check us out, when we open the service in your country. Interested ? Send me an email on, acn@sneisen.com - so I will provide you with information when your country will open the service.

You're forgetting the £10.50 a month line rental on top. That comes to £16.45, more than twice what Vonage charge.

We have to pay that anyway to get the call out of the house; only ADSL available here, which requires.. guess what... BT Line rental.

Ah yes. I keep forgetting that. I should keep my mouth shut. I pay Virgin £18pm for 2Mb despite having got rid of my landline! They dropped me to £10 for about six months and then put it up again.

So with a Vonage line I'm effectively paying sixteen quid a month for the phone anyway.
