Got a faulty set and want to know if any part of the TV is directly linked with the serial number on the back of the set?

With products we use at work there is a pcb with has the same serial number as the whole product. wanted to know if this is the same with my TV set and if so what the part is called.

Many thanks for any replies

Not the case with t.v.'s I'm affraid, it's a case of getting the faulty part identified first then tracking down that part, alot of internal PSU's are shared between size's, i.e. same PSU for the 28" model as for the 32", true for Philips, Vestel & plenty others.

Not really what I was meaning.
TV set it faulty and is going back for the second time in an attempt to repair under extended warrenty. Although the engineer has recommended tv be replaced but managment are causing a stink about it. I must add the tv came back with a fault that it never went with, damaged remote, scratches and glass, of all things, in the back and vents.

What I want to know is if the main pcb (which i think is faulty) is part of the same serial number as the one printed on the back.
If this isn;t the case, is there a part in the TV that is linked to the serial number on the back?

Its just I have told them to inform me of the fault before attempting to repair it, so if they do need to replace said part, then it would infact be a replacement set due to new serial number.

That help any further replies?

Very occasionally you may get a serial number sticker inside the set on the main PCB, although mostly you only get them on just the CRT or LCD/Plasma panel (if at all).

Perhaps too late for you now, but you could have put little stickers (or a mark with a felt-tip pen) on all the boards before it went back - it's something I often do.

Its not gone back yet, thanks for the reply!

Just about had enough of the poor service and the way I've been treated. The think that gets me is that a technical engineer has requested the set be replaced, which leaves me of the opinion that any repair is just a bodge job!
Just waiting to see what the manager says when the set has been inspected.
