Buy whatever's cheapest. Unless you live in an acoustic-proof bubble you'll see no difference. Try to pay under 50p a metre. The easy to hide thing is a misnomer, just buy more and route it effectively.

Or if money is no object then just pay someone to make your decisions for you and quit bothering a cheap forum like this.

That's awful advice, and I hope you're trying (although failing) to be tongue-in-cheek.

There's a law of diminishing returns with analogue cabling, and there's probably little point spending a fortune on speaker wire, but to advocate bell wire on what is presumably a proper hi-fi setup is just pointless.

If the OP could give more details about amp and speakers I'm sure they'll receive some more sensible advice.

The quality of your speaker cable does matter, it can change the quality of the sound you hear, or change the audible characterists. But I have found that two core single strand solid mains cable is about as good as you need, albeit a little inflexible. Else try 79 strand speaker cable [click].

Also, it is important that you keep left, right, centre & sub speaker cables the same length, You can use longer, but equally symmetrical lengths for the side speakers and ditto for the rear speakers.

I bought this recently; 16g so not too thin and not too fat. It fitted just below the edges of my carpet with a bit of pushing it down. I reckon it's good value for money.

Don't listen to advice telling you to buy the cheapest possible it's totaly wrong! I have tried numerous types over the years & often comprimises have to be met; one is perhaps better at Bass but you loose clarity, another great at mid range & average on Dialogue etc. But I have found a solution for both my Hi end hi-Fi & my quite hi end home cinema gear.

QED Silver Anniversary Micro/Mini is fantastic for HC use, it gives superb clarity for Dialogue, good mids & great Bass. It is also very small profile & quite rigid so will go under the carpets great. You can pick it up for around £3 per metre if you shop around but here is the stuff I'm talking about.
