sony CD-R Problem?

i have a pack of 50 Sony CD-R's and have found that they have lines going around the disk

(theres about 30 going from the center to the outer of the disk)

i have recorded on 4 and they seem to work fine so i was just wonder is this normal or is it a faulty pack?

Very faint concentric circles? That's normal...but I hadn't looked so closely at a cd-r before

did u look at a sony CD-R?
i have some old datawrite and memorex CD-R's and they dont have circles like the sony

You're right! Yes, I did look at a Sony but looking at a Maxell the circles (or a spiral track?) aren't there. A quick google reveals that this has been noticed before by others and some claim they have had problems writing the Sony's because of it. We'll be banished to cdfreaks if we talk about this any more.

like i said i have only used 4 so far

The new Sony's have the circles but ones from last year don't so manufacturing process appears to have changed. Have had no problems so far with 20 of the new ones across a number of machines so no cause for alarm it seems.
