I agree.

He was very confident for an 8 year old, not sure if I liked him better than the kid last week. His jokes were rubbish but then so were the cockney kids, his delivery was good though.

His mum clearly loves him to bits, and it's great to raise confident children, but maybe there's a case sometimes for preparing kids to accept the knocks in life - or accepting that there's a chance not everyone will think you're great?
I was seriously worried for him when it looked like he was going to get rejected - the shock was written all over his face; He was totally unprepared for it.

But he already had 2 yeses from Piers and Amanda?
I hated the way Simon said "I didnt think you were amazing...." or whatever it was, and theres a HUUUUGE pause as if he'll say no What must that do to the kid?

Was it just me or did anyone else find his `camp`act slightly disturbing?

Grimtales - I meant the first time he performed with the singing act - he was going to get a no then, I think?
Mooncat - I think he must have been modelling that camp act on someone - who, I don't know, but he seemed to have worked on it as part of his act, certainly.

There is confidence and then there is arrogance. That child is walking a thin line between the two. I wonder how many times he has heard the NO word?

I might have done had I not gone to school with someone who was also naturally camp. Back in the day when the gay scene wasn't as open as it is now so he wasn't likely to have copied it from anywhere.

I genuinely don't think camp is always a performance even though it does come over as affected and 'performative'. It's the nature/nurture debate really, and whether someone is born camp. I think this kid is a classic case in point just by the way that he walks, which seemed quite naturally mannered.

But he's obviously learned to embellish his speech and mannerisms for comedy value. In a Peter Kay/Coronation St kinda way.

The boy came across as a little brat.

I really thought he was dreadful on both occasions. Amanda and Simon seem unable to say no to kids, but all they are doing is building them up for a bigger fall.

I didn't spot anything remotely camp about this kid. But I didn't find him funny either. Basically I don't really like child comedians, it rarely if ever works.

I don't find it at all surprising that he appeared confident either. Lots of kids that age, especially boys, have bags of confidence. It is when they are a few years older that self consciousness sets in and make them less confident.

Hopefully they will be able to quietly drop him at the next stage. Oh and the other kid comedian too.

I think he definately will be "quietly dropped" - unless of course, the rest of the auditions turn out to be as dire as the ones we've already seen!
I agree that Amanda and Simon find it hard to say no to anyone under 12! Maybe they didn't think he'd actually come back when they rejected his singing.....there was no way they could say no when he did return.
I didn't dislike the boy, but he was just a cheeky kid - not star material.

Hi Mooncatt, I'm totally with you on this, I found it very disturbing, how camp he came across, shoving his hips forward, and forcing his arms onto his hips, gave it away, and his mood turned to nasty aggression when his talent was challenged.

There's a very find line between, confidence and arrogance. This kids is Arrogant. Didn't like this "kid" one little bit.

I agree he was just a cheeky kid though, that's it. His "jokes" were awful. But if your a professional or even amateur comic you spend ages on material.

Hi there grimtales, I just found him to 'turn', when Simon said he wasn't sure about the act, he really startled me, by his response, and I thought it came across as arrogance.

He was polite, you are right, but only after he was praised, which also worried me.. is he able to take any form of critisism, without losing his temper.

I worry kids are too young for this type of show.

I love this show though, only found it last week.

I agree with you that little kids are too young for the show, even though I did love the tiny wee girl, Connie last year Maybe an age limit should be set a la XF.

As always - Kids and stand up comedy = Big cringe and quick search for remote to switch it over.

And Bonnie you summarised the situation perfectly. The lad was only charming when he was being praised. You could see hints of a petulant side to him when Simon told him his singing was poor.

Couldn't agree more about his attitude changing when he wasn't being praised - that's what I was getting at in one of my earlier posts - I think he's been brought up to expect that everyone will always think he's as wonderful as his mum clearly does - and that's not necessarily a good thing - when he gets a real knock, he won't be able to cope, imo

Simon was right though, it was pretty damn awful. We were X'ing the acts and I had him down in 5 seconds as poor. Unlike the other 2 child singers who were good, he was pretty awful.

I do think in the main Cowell is spot on and thinks exactly the same as I do about the acts.

Thing is, he's probably the first person to tell the kid he can't sing. It may well have shocked him.

Even so, he has a stage presence, he's not nervous but not many 8 year olds are.
