VH1 - Gradually Going Down the Pan
Planet
27-07-2003
VH1 are still doing it, endless 'themed videos' - won't they run out of themes? And did anyone see the letter in Satellite TV guide - someone slagging off VH1 - VH1 denied everything, not mentioning that they are running out of money/ideas!

But it's good to see VH1 Text making an appearence again!

And does anyone know what 'VH1' actually means?

VH1 started going down years and years ago when they launched VH1 classic and shifted all the decent music to it, and tried to compete directly with MTV and The Box when it was just those 3 channels in the market.

It's going down the pan rapidly. Nearly all the proper music video slots have gone (the only one left is overnight) in favour of thememd videos every day, accomanpied by the same few films/documentries at night, and the album chart shoved in whenever they feel like it. All presenters have gone, along with the many shows it bought (some live). The channel is an unwatchable pile of rubbish now.

VH 1 stands for Video Hits 1. Makes you wonder if they were gonna make a VH 2....

The channel has gone to pot. The same endless crap on there, and even VH 1 Clasic is showing videos from last year on it. The whole music section needs revamped, with proper themed channels. Oh, please MTV, let me totally redefine your 8 chanels.....!

The Vault seems to have made Vh1 redundant in this house. All my memories are stuck in the 80's-early 90s, and I thought Vh1 would be a great place to see some old hits...NOPE.

The vault now. this is great. no themes. no waiting for "Behind the music" to finish, just hits all night, if you dont like a song, turn back in 4 mins, and its a diff song.

Vh1 really could have been useful for me. It could have chart shows for "this day in 1991" etc, it could be everyones link to their past, or just good music.

Who was the women that hosted the mon-fri 4 or 5pm (can't remeber) -6pm request slot on VH1 about 15 months ago?
It was broadcast live and she would read out peoples requests and tell us the next video on and say i'll be back after the adverts etc

The Vault Is xlnt! It's a shame it's only on at nite's - VH1 is gd when it does like an 80's weekened or Diva's but it sshud it stick 2 what it was origanely 4. MTV has lost it we don't need VH1 doing the same.

I do love VH1 Classic though espically in the evening!

It was probably Pip Dann - she was one of their main presenters and used to be on MTV when it first launched in Europe.

VH1 is alrite, but its nothing special. The Vault is definatly the best music channel for 90's music, shame its not on during the day! VH1 Classic is quite good, as is Magic for showing some decent videos (and not always the same old ones).

MTV UK is so far up America's ass theres no saving it now!

Don't know the woman's name, but the show was called "Your Moments". One of the last decent shows on VH1.
