Not enough Musical Theatre songs?
Slow Alex

It feels like only 1 Nancy a week gets to sing a MT solo number. One of my biggest annoyances about Joseph last year was the lack of MT (obviously the producers wanted to stick with ratings winning pop) but there seems to be even less this year.

It does seem rather ridiculous when you consider the actual aim of this competition is to find a musical theatre star.

I can understand throwing in pop songs every now and then so that we can see versatility and ability to emote the most obscure lyrics, but I agr.ee, more MT songs could turn this into an entirely different competition.

The only songs they've done that started life as musical theatre songs have been: Feeling Good (Cleo - and yes, it was originally a musical theatre song!), Maybe This Time (Sarah), The Lady Is a Tramp (Keisha), Send In The Clowns (Jodie), One Night Only (Jessie), Somewhere (Samantha)... and that's it, isn't it? If there are any more, correct me, but that's six songs out of fifty!

I think that's about it. Most of the sing-off songs are from shows and that is where the girls shine as obviously it's their natural style.

I sound horrible singing pop which is why I just didn't bother as I knew I wouldn't have got anywhere at all.
