“QUOTE=Evilredzebra;23293947]Remember ALW saved Ashley last week against somebody who was touted as a bit of a favourite before the live shows started.

I think what makes his comments to her seem so extreme is that he never criticises anybody else and Ashley is definitely not the weakest there. Whether it is inexperience or lack of training, I think she regularly out-performs Niamh and Sam in particular. There's no consistency with any of the comments.”

i think he got rid of Fran as it was the chance to do it - he probably thought Ashley would be next week so get rid of Fran while I can.....she was the only other pro threat to Rachel.

didnt work out that way.AWL

My intention exactly. I used to really like ALW until his truly awful comments to Ashley last week. I don't particularly like Ashley - I don't think she'd be any worse or better in the role than the others would be (none of them are particularly good imo) - but the way ALW spoke to her last week was dreadful.

I think if Ashley managed to win then I think she could play the part just as good as any of the others here. So I don't think it would be doing the West End Oliver audiences a disservice if we voted for her to spite ALW.

Clearly you haven't seen the high standard in the west end then, or maybe you've just been unlucky wth the shows you've seen

They keep banging on about having loads of different styles of Nancy yet it only seems to be ok to be a different style Nancy if it's the style the judges are looking for! Ashley is just as capable as the favourites and I hope she proves that she deserves to be in there. i don't think she was making a massive point with her "yes, yes, yes" thing, she was probably emotional and relieved and if she did do it partly to stick it to the judges and ALW then so be it, she showed a Nancy style quality in doing so anyway and she shouldn't have to take rubbish from ALW just so she doesnt endanger potential experiences.

Very true. I was shocked by his early exit despite the arrogance just because he was so bloody good.

ALW and his team had THOUSANDS of girls to choose from for the final 12 for the live shows.

He cannot now start making the sort of comments he is because HE put her in there, and if they didn't want to see any of them in the production at the end of it - they should have only have chosen girls who they would have been happy to see in there.

Exactly - Can excuse arrogance if they are that talented!

No, it's not that I think Ashley is West End 'quality', but (to borrow an ALW-ism), I just don't "rate" any of the contenders for the Nancy role, so I personally don't think it would do any harm to have Ashley when I don't think any of the others particularly stand out either.

I'm afraid she might well have made an enemy of him. Fun isn't it.

He kind of ground her hopes and aspirations into the ground with a casual disregard that might have been more appropriate for a bug. Totally uncalled for! Keep on punching Ash the GBP love a fighter!

She was gutsy and defiant. GO ASHLEY!

Ashley doesn't pander to anybody and shes been extremely professional and dignified in this whole process, respecting their comments and trying each week to change her performance to encorporate the criticism she has recieved.

It became obvious this week that no matter what she did, ALW does not like her and she can not win him over. Denise liked her up until Fran was sent home (hmm....?) and even John flat out told her she should no longer be in the competition.

Enough. The public have a say too. Its about time somebody told the Lord that when hes 'so angry' about the bottom two decision, he is just slapping in the face the people who are sitting at home voting and buying tickets for this show. How dare he storm off and tell us that we are wrong.

This week, shes had enough, no more crying- because she is NOT a cryer. Shes a fighter, and no stroppy composer is going to insult her anymore.

YES YES YES YES YES!

Yeah, she's no worse or better than many of the others. I can't really understand why she's been singled out for such an emphatic rejection.

There've been way worse contestants on all three of these talent search shows and he's never been that desultory before.

But as someone else said, he doesn't seem like a man who'd behave this unfairly for nothing. He's so well-mannered and positive about them all normally. Is there a possibility that something about her has just really got his back up?

It's probably because of John's remarks last week that she's still there - Fran was sacrificed to salve ALW's conscience and John in particular gave him the excuse he needed to save Ashley - thinking he could get rid of her this week.

She's my least favourite - but the girl's got spirit - good on her.

Andrew Lloyd Webber doesn't like her. He wants her out.

Two tactics she can use - lick his arse, buy him flowers, tell him how much she respects him and how brilliant he is, hope to get him onside. chances - not great.

Or alternatively, realise that she's never going to convince him so think '**** him then' and concentrate on doing her own thing without worrying about what the guy thinks. With clenched fists, defiance and all.

If she does the business and avoids the sing-off it could be the best thing she's ever done. They're all tiptoeing around ALW like he's some kind of God - when it's not even his production and half the time he'd make more sense if he was talking in Madigascan. What a release to just not give a sh*t about his opinions and just go for the public vote.

It worked tonight, it won't work forever, but while it does it's refreshing.

If so he should be sufficiently professional to keep his prejudice away from prime time television.

It is odd. Perhaps he's worried that she might just be in the last two- Keith was voted through last year and while he was very talented he was no Joseph. Add to that the possibility that there may not be a sure fire talented favourite who he approves of as there were with Connie and Lee and maybe it's all a bit stressful.
