Region Code Changes

Can anyone point me is the correct direction regarding the 5 change region code lock that seems to aflict most if not all current software DVD players.

This restriction is really causing problems and threatening the entire financial justification of buying a top of the range laptop in the first place.

If nobody has a full answer, any pinters to places where I can get more information about how the locking functions would be appreciated as I am not without hardware/software engineering skils - just short of time to research or unable to risk the laptops daily business use by experiment, without some guidelines.

Take a look here, maybe you can find the info there!

This problem depends on a number of issues. Firstly the drive may be region locked after 5 changes, in which case a firmware hack may be required, this is risky as the drive can die if a problem occurs during the flashing process. If the drive is not region coded, then all you need is a program called DVDGenie, which allows you to change the region on software players unlimited number of times.

Check out the dvd section of

They will have all the info, and files you need.

Thanks, luckily I have not locked the drive having decided to do nothing since discovering the five shot limit until I knew more.

I've down loaded DVD Genie, so I'll see how it goes.
