I have to say the scene when the had to explain to the kids that he was leaving was very well done. It really brought home how hurtful is it to the children. Weird that something as 'common' as divorce has so rarely been portrayed that well.
I agree. I thought that scene was superbly done.

It is diffucult, if not actually impossible to rememer what it was like being a kid - how you thought, how you felt, what motivaed you, what made you scared etc.

Sorry to get a bit personal, but that scene reminded me of the time my Mum told me that my sick Dad was not going to get better. I was 18 at the time and we should all have seen it coming. But we had no experience of such things and also we didn't want to see what was staring us in the face.

When you are a kid (even an 18 year-old one!), your world revolves around Mum and Dad. Them not being there is unfathomable.

I probably had a look on my face how Sally looked - complete confusion, disbelief and then a reaction....No.

The way the kids acted their reaction was marvellous. And also, how both Don/John and Betts/January tried to hold themselves together equally brilliant.

But as she is not legally married, as Don Draper is dead, surely an annulment would be more appropriate than a divorce?

Thanks for that link Derek500! There's a group on Facebook that is promoting Sal's return to Madmen! http://www.facebook.com/group.php?v=...d=291521899466

I fully expected Sal to be called in to open up the art room

Bryan Batt has done a couple of 2010 episodes of Ugly Betty (which I don't watch after giving a couple of early episodes a try), but nothing else is recorded on IMDB

oh has the BBC said if and when season 4 will be shown in the UK? With the cut backs on US imports by the BBC the next season could be on FX or sky one?

That possibility has already been mooted - the last I saw we were not convinced that the BBC would let us down.

Sky One?

I can hardly see Mad Men fitting in with that channel's profile ...

The BBC has said it plans to cut back on US imports but I would be very surprised if Mad Men was a casualty of that policy. It brings the BBC too much kudos.

I would predict that Mad Men will continue - but we will see other new US shows taken up by other channels, not least FX.

The only beef is that Series 4 will begin in July in the US. Why exactly do we have to wait until January 2011 to see it? Why not show it in the autumn this year?

PS if you want to demand that Mad Men remain on the BBC, take this survey and make your voice heard: http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbctrust/consul...n/consult_view

That's a very good point. But this show is all in the detail, possibly this will unpeel yet another layer of the past. I hope so!

So: three more series to go?

No, I hardly ever see showbiz/celeb gossip - so thank you, Servalan.

Who knows where Matt Weiner will take the show- the next three seasons might all take place in 1964. Personally I hope the show will end with the start of the 70s or the end of the 60s in December 1969, that we'll see the changes in society post Nixon's election, Stonewall, the Moon Landing and Woodstock.

Blimey, six seasons, that's a lot. All for it, I just hope the quality stays as high as we have come to expect.

Me too - but I'm quietly confident. (I hope I don't live to regret saying that!)

Matthew Weiner has been shrewdly secretive about what he gives away about the show - there are very few spoilers - and the DVD extras don't feature extensive behind-the-scenes footage. I get the impression he's very into preserving an air of mystique around the show - which is a very smart thing to do.

Also, if this story is accurate and he really did said he could foresee six series, he will already have in mind where he wants to take the main characters.

On the basis of what we've seen so far, the man is a genius.

Perhaps I'd really like to see one season set in 1968 as it was such a momentous year.

I just caught up with the last few episodes off tape (old school me), The Sterling Cooper Gang stage a heist! Or was it a coup? Either way, huge fun and great to see Joan is riding shotgun again.

The mood was sublimely handled both at SC and at home.

I did the same, recorded the last four eps on skyplus and watched them one after the other. Sublime. I loved that while Don's private life was falling apart, he still managed to galvanise the others into taking action.

I am having withdrawals already, might have to go back to s1 and watch it all again while waiting for s4 with baited breath.

Absolutely brilliant. I always feel at the end of an episode that I have been holding my breath all the way through, never moreso than with the last one. I finally exhaled when it was over and immediately had the urge to watch it all again.

I am going to miss them all so much (even Pete!)

I was watching a recording of a BBC4 programme this morning, and was skipping thru the trails when I caught a split-second glimpse of Pete in the midst of some debauched-looking Brits Replaying several times didn't give me any more than that brief glimpse of him but I gathered it was in relation to a series about the 80s "coming soon", and I found it (no dates, sorry):

http://www.bbc.co.uk/tv/comingup/money/

That's for Pete fans If anyone wants to start a thread, do - I'm not sociable enough to initiate interesting threads here

PETE! Yay.... I think of all the MM cast I'm missing him the most, so this 'Money' thing might tide me over a bit until... whenever *sniff*... we get MM back here in the UK... *sob*

If a trailer is out, it must be quite soon? Maybe in a week or so?

Anyone else having withdrawal symptoms?

Can't help but wonder what Don, Betty, Pete and co are all up to now. By 'now' I mean 'then'. Oh, you get the picture...
