three or vodafone for a mobile phone contract tariff? Retentions?
I was thinking of joining either one of these.
What I wanted to know was, if I was to phone them up within 14 days of starting a contract can I call them, threaten to leave and will they give me more minutes or a better phone for free? |

From: http://www.three.co.uk/customer/link...=1089021441127 Returns – online and telesales customers If you’re a new 3 customer who purchased your mobile via three.co.uk or from 3's own telesales team and for some reason you change your mind and wish to return your mobile, provided you have not used your mobile, you can return your mobile and original boxed accessories, along with your proof of purchase, within 14 days of delivery to the retailer from which it was bought. The Returns policy doesn’t apply: ■ to new customers who did not purchase their mobile via 3’s telesales team or via three.co.uk, or ■ to new customers who purchased their mobile via 3's telesales team or via three.co.uk who have used their mobile (this means that you may not personalise your mobile in any way, or use any of the 3 Services, or take photos or videos or load any data onto the mobile), or ■ to existing customers who choose (where allowed by 3) to upgrade their mobile. If you are a new customer who purchased your mobile via 3's telesales team or via three.co.uk, in order to get your full refund under the Returns policy, you must return your unused mobile along with the original boxed accessories and documentation ‘as new’ to 3 within 14 days of delivery. You’ll also need to provide your receipt as proof of purchase. If you are unsure what to do call 0870 7330 333 and we will advise you how to return your mobile and original boxed accessories if you are eligible under this Returns policy. Retain copies of your receipt and proof of postage. Your refund will be in the same form as your original payment If you want more minutes etc, try haggling with Phones4U, don't like them myself but they will sometimes give you a better deal for the sake of a sale. |

One of the issues with Three is the returns policy. You can only examine the phone and best not to put the sim in, otherwise you lose all rights to cancel. Don't know how it works with buying the Three deal from an independent store.
