Have seen 2 versions of Joseph - Donny Osmond from years ago, and Craig in travelling show.

The former had a female narrator, as the Lee Meed show does, but the travelling show had Keith as narrator - and I have to say I thought it so much better with a male singer. I find even good female singers' voices can grate on me after a while.

For me Linzi Hately was brilliant and I've not seen her bettered ... so female for me.

I prefer a male 'Narrator'

Male you may think i'm biased as i am a big keith fan but he is amazing! And i have also seen chris and he was fab aswell and much perferred him to female narrators.

Vivienne Caryle is the greatest I think you need a contrast between the lead voices, so I'd vote for a female

I saw the new narrator in WE a few weeks ago, I didn't like her voice at all, I like the idea of a male , but ,it depends who.

The part was originally written for a male - I don't know, Keith is my only male Narrator and he is amazing!

However love love love Vivienne, and I've seen a few other female narrators and one other was pretty good, but it's Keith and Vivienne that stand out - maybe it's the Scottish theme??

Gotta be Maria Friedman - on the Donny Osmond DVD.

Female..Linzi Hately on the Jason Donovan cast recording is great, but im sure a male Narrator will work just as well
