All you cider fans out there - what is your favourite??

My 2 are:

Deuche De Longueville - a French Cider you can get from Sainsbury's. You can really taste the apples in this one

Samuel Smiths - Only normallly available in Samuel Smiths pubs. But it's very nice, again you can taste the apples, but not as much as my first choice

I hope no one will mention Magners as their favourite!

TBH, I have only just starting drinking cider again after a few years break, so am only a beginner on the cider front!

I have only been drinking Magners and/or Bulmers (love their pear variaty).

However if there are better ciders out there...... tell me more!

I have just discovered this and at the moment it is my favourite as I don't understand or have knowledge of cider as I do of wines.

Suffice to say once I do gain knowlegde it will probably end up fit for the drains, but at the moment it's very quaffable

I like this one too - although find it a bit sweet so couldnt drink too much.

And for that reason I tend to go for Bulmers

Wytchwood Green Goblin. 6% reasonably sweet but with no acidity after taste.

The OH drinks Thatchers, who do a variety of styles. Of them all I think the Vintage or Oak are her favourites.

As for my tastes, I like most Ciders; but can't say I have a favourite.

Just searching some traditional ciders and I think this has to be the best name ever - WobblyGob.
Probably an indication of what its like after a few of their ciders

haha and for the full professional cider drinker, Aldi dry cider at £1.79 for 2 litres, mind you, you have to pay an extra few pence for the bag to conceal it over the park.

started drinking Old english as a 14 yr old, 1 bottle could get four of us pissed very cheaply. still like the odd snort of it but as a Philistine, my favourite is good old Strongbow..

Magners is very over rated and too bloody expensive

I really like the stuff I have had at Beer festivals and at real ale pubs, but really dislike all the mass produced stuff.

In my youth we could get a litre of Old Deadly, with a skull on the label, 99p, this was 13.5 per cent before they changed the ruling.
Just utter muck, but lethal.

one of the most famous Cider Fans in history was a bloke called Cider Bri, he used to be well known in his combat gear around Eccles town centre and is very sadly missed.

So you like the Chav drinks of choice, unless your from Scotland of course, then its Buckfast.

Out of interest, as there is very few places that sell traditional barrel ciders; how many will drink the likes of Magners/Bulmers? Also are you like me, not one who would sully the taste with ICE! I couldn't believe it the first time I ordered Magners, when they asked if I wanted ice, I almost ordered a shandy I was so horrified

Out of all the ones so far mentioned, yes Kopparberg Pear is nice. And so is Green Goblin and Thatchers (Gold/Spartan)

And the worst: Things like White Lightening - been put off it ever since I chucked half of it back up over my mates patio at 3 in the morning. But that was many moons ago, my tastes have got more sophisticated (and expensive) now!

Favourite of the moment is Westons Organic...and recently discovered and love Westons Perry too, which is a lot more dry and less sweet than Kopperburg.

I've just had 2 Litres of Gaymer's Orchard Reserve Medium Cider. Gorgeous stuff from the Newton's Vale Orchard in Somerset. 6.8% Vol and £1.98 for a 75cl bottle at Asda.

I'm afraid I tend to go for Strongbow, seems to be the main one in pubs, but coming from Kent we have Biddenden in some pubs, lethal, used to be my tipple of choice but really can't handle it now.
Brothers Strawberry cider's not bad if you're feeling particularly girly.

Went through a phase of loving Magners about a year and a half ago, now it actually gives me the boke.

Love Kopparberg Pear, Mixed Berry is ok, but not as good.

If I'm not in the mood for the uber sweet Kopparberg, Brothers Pear is really good. Its more like cider, with added pear than just pear juice, so to me its more of an actual pear cider than the usual Perry and its really tasty. Not tried the strawberry variety though, I want to try it, but I'm scared its horrible then i'll be left with the horrible taste in my mouth.

Strongbow is my Apple Cider of choice by the way. Extra Cold.
