I had a bottle of Weston's Old Rosie last week. It's a kind of standard bearer in cider. There are a handful of better ciders but you can't really go wrong.

Yes, Old Rosie is very nice. I had some Co-Op Tillington Hills last night which is another good one.

Press 81 Pear Cider is lovely. Very smooth and fruity.
The bottle is good too, can be used for bottle skittles.

Don't buy bottled or fizz
http://www.brimblecombescider.co.uk/home Usually stop off on the way from work usually on a Friday ![]() Their vintage is dryer than the middle og the Gobi Desert. I have seen the trees seen the press seen the guy press the apples. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm |

I tried Press 81 last night and was pleasantly surprised. I bought it thinking it was an alcopop type of cider but it was very nice tasting if a tad fizzy.

I had some Welsh Cider called Taffy Apples whilst staying at Pontins recently. Pretty nice stuff but £3.25 a 500ml bottle in the camp shop. Mind you a can of Stella was £2 there !

I just thought I would share my observation that Stella Cidre tastes MUCH better out of a can than a bottle.
Tesco have it at 4 cans for £3 at the mo. |

I can't believe nobody has mentioned Rekorderlig. My favourite by far.
They have a few flavours, but the 'Apple' and the 'Strawberry and Lime' are amazing! |

Have any of you guys tried Hawksridge cider from Tesco?
It cost £1.48 for 2 litres but before you all start thinking it's some kind of pikey drink give it a try. It's like Strongbow but half the price. ![]() It's nothing like those diamond white ciders, I think Hawksridge is 5% or something like that. |

Just a heads up the Westons 3L vintage organic (Wyld wood) cider box is now rolled back to £5.19 at Asda.
It's a very tasty medium dry cider. The 2L scrumpy keg is also rolled back to £4.09 Makes a change from Magners hiking up their prices.. |

ASDA and Tesco seem to have stopped the deals on bottles of cider (3 for £5 etc.) but Morrisons are selling various bottles for £1.50 which is quite a good price compared to the others.

I went into a local Spar shop last weekend and tried some of their "specially selected for Spar" cider at 75p a can. I thought it might be a bit rank but it wasn't too bad - similar to Strongbow. Same alcohol as Strongbow - 5.3%.
They also sell Super Strength cider @ 8.4% but I'll be damned if I was going to try that!

I wouldn't touch Magners at current prices. Asda have it at £1.58 per bottle or 8 bottles for £11.97.
Too expensive for me. Not sure if you would call them artisan brands but I meant bottles from Westons, Henneys, Aspall, Gaymers etc. |

I hate Bulmers but don't mind Magners. I've always thought Magners is a bit overpriced for what it is, it's like they're trying to be posh by charging 2 quid for one bottle but in reality they're no better than Strongbow or any other of the half decent cheaper brands.

Their own brand dry cider is also crap so it's back to Westons scrumpy or Magners (when it's on offer) for me. |

I went to Co-Op yesterday and bought a 3 litre bottle of their own brand cider for £3.80. Again, it's similar to Strongbow so worth trying if you're not after anything posh.

See I either like the hard rough stuff, white cider, as it reminds me of Cava
or I like the pear ciders. Most specialists ones are nice but I'm cutting cider out completely as it's the most fattening/calorific alcoholic beverage!![]()

Bargain Booze have now got Westons Stowford Press in cans. Pretty similar in taste to Thatchers Gold and only £3.65 for 4 x 500ml cans.

Orchard Pig is good, not sure how widely available it is though. Besides that I'd go for Stowford Press or Thatchers Gold.
