Did you prefer BB USA to BB UK?

I did. It was the fact that it was so different to our one...

Gameplaying:
US: I liked that it was a game show and the contestants all played the game.
UK: Yet over here if they play the game they are accused of having a 'gameplan' called a 'fake' and get evicted.

The Winner:
US: They all had a chance of winning due to it only being the housemates who vote.
UK: Most of them dont care about winning anymore, especially the female HMs as they know the little teenyboppers who spend all their credit voting wont allow them to win.

Evictions:
US: The evictee would walk right out of the house to a calming interview with the imparsial, professional Julie.
UK: The evictee nearly has a panic attack before getting thrown to the lions and facing a (sometimes) grilling from the biased, unprofessional Davina.

Audience:
US: There was an audience for the finale and they applauded all the houseguests, even people like Chelsea, Matt & Natalie, who came across as disliked, but the audience obviously just thanked them for giving them such great entertainment.
UK: A crowd which is mostly 90% of women-hating chavs and wannabes who failed at BB auditions turn up just to boo people who have provided us with great entertainment and of course nowadays HMs are getting booed before they even get out of the car on launch night and of course theres the horrible chanting of "Get (name) out"

Presenters:
US: Julie never lets anyone know who her favourites are and treats all HMs the same, like any professional TV presenter would.
UK: Davina just gets worse and worse everytime I see her, I like her but she is so biased nowadays, when she done that awful On The Couch show during BB8:yawn: everyone could see what a phony she was as she was so sweet to all the shrinks on Sunday and nasty to HMs on Friday.. Also I cant stand the way she keeps reminding us about how EXCITING!!!!! every lame task and twist is.

Tasks:
US: The HMs really put their heart and soul into the tasks as they know their is some good prizes at the end of them. Majority of the tasks are also physical and involve the HMs competing against eachother.
UK: Most HMs couldnt care less about tasks anymore - I can hardly even remember any tasks from BB8 - the only prize at the end is the shopping list where they always end up arguing about how many tomatoes to order or something:yawn:. Just dressing them up in silly costumes doesnt make it exciting either.

Nominations:
US: Only one HM is allowed to choose who faces eviction which is fair as that is the set rule for the series, also they can all discuss who they are going to vote for which makes it more interesting.
UK: If someone discusses nominations they are penalised with a punishment to suit Big Brother, and what exactly is the point of not being able to discuss nominations as its not an essential part of BB anymore, normal nominations only happen every few weeks nowadays as they are too busy changing the rules at every minute.

What do you think?

Should BB UK take a leaf out of the BB US book?

Or do you prefer the UK version the way it is?

And do you prefer the US version or the UK version.

Yeah I know what you mean I just feel that the UK version needs to get back to the way it once was I'm hoping BB9 will be a success

..but after seeing your reasonings, I would have to agree with you.. BBUSA is a pretty much altogether better show.

I prefer the UK BB to be honest. BB US definately has some good aspects to it but a few things let it down.

Gameplay: The gameplay was interesting in BB US, it caused more twists than the actual producers could do but I missed the reality aspect. You never really get to know the housemates beyond what is a part of their gameplay. I think BB UK could do with doing special weeks where they could implement the HOH and POV aspect of BB. Having the same thing each week in BB US made me lose interest especially when James kept on winning POV.

The winner: With the housemates choosing a winner, it is possible for a very undeserving person winning the prize money. I wasn't fond of Ryan or Adam, it was because of the housemates voting each other out that these two were left.

The eviction: All of the evictions feel very generic and I'm not really interested in the interview, I usually just want to know who is evicted.

The audience: The crowd reactions are the best thing about BB UK. The housemates who are the horriblest get the worst treatment which is what they usually deserve. Housemates who go into the house should know by now that not everyone is going to like them, especially if they are bitchy and fake. They should expect some booing especially if they have done something that may offend or anger the public. It all comes with the BB package.

Presenters: I think Julie was the main reason that BB US felt so generic and same each week. She uses the same 'catchphrases' every week and as many people have pointed out, she comes across a bit robotic. I think it's important to have a human presenter who does have their own opinions. Davina usually has the same opinions as the public as so she is only representing the public's feelings in the interview. If she was completely unopinionated, the public would complain that her interviews are boring and she doesn't seem human like they do with Julie. I don't think BB US would be the same if they replaced Julie though so it's great that they keep her.

Tasks: I have to completely agree with you in that aspect of BB US. The housemates wanted to win because they had a reward they wanted. They need to use newer, more unique tasks that offer them something more than their weekly shopping budget.

Nominations: I like that all the housemates contribute towards who is up for nominations rather than just one person because it usually just involves sucking up week in, week out. I think housemates should be allowed to discuss nominations after they have been announced however the discussion of future nominations should remain the same that people can't influence other peoples decisions. In BB US, I was getting tired of the houseguests who I hated staying every week because they made a deal with the HOH. It just prolongs the inevitable.

I think both versions has something to learn from the other as neither of them are perfect. I think a mixture of gameplay and reality is key as otherwise you get the same thing every week and you're losing a huge amount of the audience who prefers gameplay to reality and vice vera.

Overall I think I prefer BBUK because it's the series I have grown up with. But BBUSA has had better series than ours and over the last couple of years is a lot better than our current efforts.

I can't see our BB changing, even if they make better tasks, add HOH or POV, it's the people who apply, they are looking for what it offers after it's over.

Up until recently I,d have said BBUK by a mile but after last years fiasco I,d have to say BBUS

I,ve just re-read your post and I do agree in parts except about the awful Julie Chen, she is no doubt professional but in my opinion too professional, she just comes over completely emotionless and not in the least bit intersted in what the contestants have to say.
Though the BBUS tasks are way superior to the pathetic tasks in BBUK

I agree with many of your points, one of the reasons I started to love Big Brother was that you could get to see what the HMs true personalities were like - I also like it when all the HMs vote - but I wish they would stop changing the rules at the last minute in order to keep their favourites in

And I agree with you about the crowd reactions I also love to see someone horrible get booed but I think its awful when someone who has done absolutely nothing wrong gets booed (like Kara-Louise and Susie) and I also think booing on launch night shouldnt be allowed as none of the HMs have done anything wrong (unless of course its Celeb BB, where they know the person they are booing), one evictee I would loved to have seen get booed was Jade Goody, but they banned a crowd for her even though her behaviour was appalling, yet people who havnt been as bad get a horrible reception - you are also correct that HMs should always expect that they might get booed.

I agree with you that she comes across as a little too professional, for example I would like to see her hug the evictees instead of just shaking hands, which is too formal.

I love BBUSA and BBUK, but I tend to see them as two entirely different shows. They play out so differently from each other, that I don't compare them at all. I also love BBAus and some years prefer this to BBUK. I am a BB junkie and not ashamed to admit to it.

At the end of the day though, if it has streaming for me to watch, I will most likely sit and watch it for hours. I loved Fame Academy, The Salon, Scissor Hands, IACGMOOH, Back To Reality and The Farm. I am a hopeless RTV/Streaming addict and there isn't a cure for me.

I find I look forward to watching BB US more than the UK one - which has become very boring at times - I used to love it but now I can't be bothered to invest so much time into it - the US one is on less and maybe that is why I got into it more as it didn't take over my life! Also I loved the gameplay and the honesty in the diary room and the fact that they weren't just after the latest magazine deal and we don't have to suffer the latest showmance on the cover of Heat for months afterwards! Never seen BB Aus - not sure how to see that one - sure there is a link somewhere - but I have probably missed too much of it by now.

I too love the honesty in the Diary Room.

Before I would love to see UK HMs do well once they got out but now I cant be bothered reading their month long magazine deal about how in love they are - and then afterwards reading his side of the break-up one week and her side of the breakup the following.

I also much prefer the editing on BBUS - the way it just goes from one moment to another, plays music for dramatic affect and only shows the interesting moments -unlike the UK version which constantly shows them cooking and only shows the HMs they want

I really don't know which I prefer from the three BB's I watch. It depends which is on at which time and how good the series is. Currently BBAU is my favourite, by that'll probably change when BBUK starts

I remember Gerry dressed as a fish! a sardine i think! woohoo!

hahahaaaaaaaaa. but usa is awesome, but maybe its good that it is just the US one like that so us fans know where to go for that kinda show. also, uk HM's, at least their summer, are treated like royalty - front pages of newspapaers, magazines and all over the place. in the USA, they dont get that kind of fame at all... so UK kinda make it worse for themselves...
