BBUS is horribly edited and packaged, with events being shown out of sequence and kept hidden from the audience. BBUK and AU present a somewhat more accurate view of what's going on in the house. BB US has a story to tell, and if events in the house don't support that narrative, they just twist them until they do. As a result, anyone who watches the live feeds knows what's going to happen on the broadcast days before the broadcast, including who will be evicted.
No one (except die-hard fans) particularly cares about BB US. The audience for the final episode is so polite and restrained because it's mainly F and Fs or people connected to the show. Julie Chen (aka the Chen-bot) is widely despised by fans of the show. And rightly so. And most important of all, entirely missing from BB US is... Big Brother! I'd rank them UK... AU.... US. The Australian version loses points for not having BBLB or a proper BBBM and casting virtually all good-looking young people. Which is fine for the blokes, but if they're going to have women on the show too, they need to be interesting.

Alison Grodner (Executive Producer) is jet-set on destroying the BB franchise in the US, except she's the only one that doesn't know it yet. She's the one that introduced the "twists" into the BBUS game. While only one in my mind worked (the Twin Twist in BB5) most usually fall into an also ran. That's what sullies the series.
BBUS relies on stunt casting now because of these meaningless "twists" and that hurts the franchise. Until Ms. Grodner realizes it the show suffers. Believe me, the BBUS superfans have been calling for a back to basics format for years. Then again, without stunts we'd have no BBUS6. So I guess it's a love/hate relationship but more often than not BBUS fails and it all boils back to the key ingredient... CASTING. |

Um no... there is really no comparison. You can't even tell the US Big Brother is being filmed live at any moment which kind of defeats the point of it.
Julie Chen I love though... she is the show's only saving feature. |

She broke her "robotic" interviews in BB3, the week the Golden PoV was introduced and Marcellas won the GPoV and didn't use it on himself. Julie slapped him in the back of the head with her "presenter cards" and asked "What were you thinking?" like everyone in America was when he made that move. She sounded somewhat mad really when she asked it.

I judge each version on there seasons because I don't see one format being solely better than the other. Some seasons the USA ruled and some the UK ruled. I enjoy watching the AU version but when comparing seasons the AU version has came in third in my comparisons. (I have seen BB5 - BB8 AU).

BB1 UK was by far better than BB1 USA, even the press in the USA made constant refrences to the UK version showing it was better.
I enjoyed BB2 USA more than BB2 UK but both were close in my book. In housemate like-ablilty and entertainment.
Both BB3's were equally great but BB3 USA won me over due to the Veto being introduced. Marcellas not using the Golden PoV was a classic stupid move.
BB4 USA I thought was more entertaining the casting twist made good entertainment that year. Hated the final two. The only thing I really liked about BB4 UK was the housemate swap.
BB5 UK won this time around, the whole "evil" theme was great. BB5 USA Project DNA was good but evil was better!
This one was more of a tie but if I had to chose it would be BB6 USA, the tension you could cut it with a knife that year. Although BB6 UK had its golden moments that made me love it.
BB7 UK won me here; the BB7 All-Stars USA wasn't worth all the hype IMO it was a good season but BB7 UK toped it. I still say Glen to win.
BB8 USA here won, more entertaining again plus I actually was rooting for ED and Danielle to work through their problems. BB8 UK was entertaining at times especially with Charlie but at times dull, Liam was my favorite HM that year Twins were my second fav.
I am for certain BB9 UK will win for me, I mean BB9 USA was a complete and utter train wreck those HMs didn't even get their 15 minutes of fame and they are still hungry for more. (See ever growing list of eBay auctions and fake orgy rumor) BB9 UK is sure to be better than BB9 USA no contest.
In short best seasons/series: BB1 UK; BB2 USA; BB3 USA; BB4 USA; BB5 UK; BB6 USA; BB7 UK; BB8 USA Enjoyed: BB2 UK; BB3 UK; BB5 USA; BB6 UK Okay seasons/series: BB1 USA, BB7 USA; BB8 UK Could careless for: BB4 UK; BB9 USA I enjoy both versions equally so I base my decisions solely on entertainment factor, creativity in tasks/competitions and how likable the Housemates are that year. And if anyone is wondering I preferred BB1 USA over BB9 USA and I don't say that much. Both were bland but I liked the HMs of BB1 USA more than the BB9 USA and at times the BB1 USA HMs were a pleasure to watch. Eddie was a deserving winner that year. Thoughts: The USA should stop with the HM related twists and have more twists that effect the gameplay (like the Veto in BB3 USA). The Rich/Poor format would so work with the USA I mean we live for that stuff. Also the whole "Big Brother gets Evil" theme would again so work with us like for the simple fact say BB didn't like "Adam" throwing the PoV comp. so "Ryan" won it, then BB could make the comp. void and no one gets PoV that week. Or continuing with the evil theme if BB deems the HMs unsuitable to vote out one of the nominees BB could let the public decide. Now I am talking maybe 1 to 3 times at random would be nice and would keep them on their toes. |

Really the only ones I've liked with BB2 and BB3. Everything since then has been horrible. Dull housemates, with the most unlikeable ones making it to the end each season.

I know that really became a trend starting with BB4 but I in BB5 I actually did like Drew in the final two he was my favorite to win that year. In BB4, BB6-BB7 I didn't like the final two, I somewhat liked the final two in BB8; hated all of BB9. Praying BB10 brings fresh twists to the show and brings BB USA back to its formal glory. BB9 set the show back I think.

It actually is live though, live Internet feeds are blocked out when the show is live, advising you to watch CBS.

Since then has she shown one shred of personality?

Yes... but it doesn't look or feel live... I dunno... it just doesn't have the same excitement about it as the other Big Brothers do. For instance when they're told they're evicted they just casually get up... walk out the front door across an empty and fake looking studio and have a 30 second chat to Julie in another room. It's just too cold and emotionless.

BB USA and BB UK are sooooo different and i like the both. I like BB USA because it's more like a game show and you watch people team up and make packs to get other people out and back door them. I also like that in the end it's the people that have lived in the house that decide who makes the money.
BB UK i like because of all the drama. It would be better if it had some elements from BB USA like the head of household and POV challenges. |

Has BBUSA ever had a blind houseguest? because its rumoured that the UK version are having one this year.
This is why I love BBUSA because the sympathy vote never works like in BBUK. |

I know what you mean, sometimes I do wish there is a crowd there but then again it gives the show the extra touch that they really are cut off from the outside world until they leave the compound.
(Oddly enough, as I type this the temperature in LA is 18 and partly cloudy, while here in Toronto it's 18 and overcast and in London it's 18 and a few clouds!) |

The Chenbot is an orgasmic dream for me. Loved her.
But overall I preferred BBUK. BBUSA is basically semi-scripted, and I liked that not. |

I prefer BBUSA - it is a gameshow, the editing can get annoying but it provides entertainment.

Hundreds of millions of Americans disagree with you.
It's inconceivable that anything that happened on BB US would ever make the newspapers or that anyone who knew a housemate could sell their secrets to the tabloids. The U.S. is the only country in the world where the basic premise of BB had to change because the viewing audience wasn't smart enough to vote in a manner that would keep the show interesting. "How do we make Big Brother work? Oh I know - we'll get rid of the voting and Big Brother!" |
