I've used a PVR80 for over a year & have not had any serious problems with it.

Just ordered the PVR160 , 30 day no-quible return & 12 months warranty so not a high-risk gamble for 57 quid

I can't imagine where you've been reading bad reviews for the PVR models. They are the original Vestels - Record1/Watch1, can be upgraded with unofficial software to Record2 but that does tax them because they could do with more RAM (one deletes unwatched channels to ease the strain), nevertheless they are still very reliable (see other threads on this forum).

None of the glitches you get with later models. I'm still using mine, known as the T810 from the firmware, alongside the T816, and the 'event' recordings are just as accurate on the former as the latter.

The user-friendliest PVR on the planet But they do need a good signal.

I wonder why SVP say "A few button presses on the remote control and the program re-starts whenever you are ready"? It's one button press, actually - the Play button!

I'm interested in buying one of these. But I hate fan noise - I've a Thomson TopUp TV+ box with loud fan noise when in standby, but I find the Sky+ box quite ok.

How loud is a Digihome in standby?

My PVR80 is whisper quiet as it is a "pause live tv" rather than "rewind live tv" unit. This means my disk isn't spinning until I decide to pause tv, or watch a recording. Also, there's no fan noise that I can detect.

There's no fan in Digihomes. They run 99.999% silent

Apart from when they are recording, then there is a very slight hum, which is understandable.

Gawd, I must be going deaf Seriously though, I can't hear it if there's any background noise whatsoever - and if you were going off to sleep in a silent bedroom it certainly wouldn't keep you awake.

Don't forget there's Version 5.6 software floating around... though I've never got over you not being able to get the twin-record to work on your PVR80 I don't suppose you'll want to go thru it all again!
