I'd like to see them cast Chris. I've seen this show twice and it's wonderful. Last time I saw Lee Mead play Chris. He was the understudy.

Maybe find an "Annie" - but then again it would just be for kids and the public wouldnt vote. Havent seen the film, but maybe there could be a male lead that needs filling (that way we are reversing genders for next season) - show would be called "Hard Knock Life"

Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz - show would be called "Somewhere Over The Rainbow"

I'd like to see Miss Saigon aswell. I've never seen it, but I adore the music and think it's a hugely under-rated show - not a prominent one in the public sphere, but from the sounds of it, is phenominal. So I'd love a show like this to bring it back, and to full public attention. Maybe "The Heat Is On" as the title?

A Rent one would be good aswell, "Take Me Or Leave Me" is a title that just needs to be used for one of these shows!! But DVO would never shut up about "when I was in Rent..." and Rent never really seems to catch on here sadly

I think I've had my fill of them - too much controversy, too many incomprehensible decisions, too many conspiracy theories.

I suppose if there is another I'll succumb to curiosity and watch - but this is my least favourite of the reality shows I watch; much prefer The Apprentice, SCD and DOI. I've never watched any others regularly - Big Brother, I'm a celebrity, X factor (saw no more than one or two episodes) or BGT.

Miss Saigon needs to be back on the West End, to be honest. If they went back to the original London lyrics and were casting Ellen... they could call it Her or Me!

I'd love to see them do it with the original orchestrations of RENT too, but it has just closed, and yeah, it doesn't seem to mix well with the UK, which is a shame because it's a great show when it's done properly.

Ah, that would've been a good title. Now that I've seen her just doesn't have the same ring They could maybe use I'd Give My Life for You - but that might be a little too desperate!

As much as I would LOVE Miss Saigon and other musicals to come back to the West End (it really needs to!) I kind of wish that it wouldn't be made into a reality show. I'm not saying that these casting type of shows are necessarily bad, but I don't really want its specialness breached, so to speak. I'd rather it follow the traditional route and don't risk being cheapened/associated with a bad name if the TV show is a flop.

Someone mentioned Annie on a similar thread to this and suggested a search for a 'Daddy Warbucks' and a 'Miss Hannigan' (I think it was this lady or Grace?) best to keep the Annie to a private auditioning as it would be a big show casting the male and female adults.

I know what you mean, I think Miss Saigon's not the kind of show that would benefit from this kind of casting - it's not overly family friendly, and probably isn't familiar enough to the general public. That, and I don't think I could cope with a poorly-cast lead - not that I necessarily think Connie, Lee or indeed whoever wins IDA is a poor decision, but there's always the vague threat that the public in a moment of insanity might vote for someone a bit rubbish in the role!

I just hope there's another UK production soon - it had a revival in Japan just after I left and I was gutted I couldn't see it (the Japanese version of Bui Doi is one of my favourites).

Evita! They need to do a search for a Che (Or perhaps, to make it fair, they should search for Evita and Che ). I don't know what the show would be called though ... maybe "Oh! What A Circus"?

If Miis Saigon was brought back to the WE, I'd prefer it wasn't by the reality TV route. If it was done that way, it would be better to cast Kim and Ellen (which would tie in with the Her Or Me title that someone suggested), or just Kim. There is already a great potential Chris in Lee Mead.

The Annie idea is interesting. There are two adult roles that could be cast, along with Annie herself, of course - Miss Hannigan and Oliver 'Daddy' Warbucks. So they could go with female child/male adult casting, and it would be interesting to see contestants who are not teenagers vying for the 'adult' role, which would have to be the case, because Warbucks is a middle-aged man!

Jesus Christ Superstar would be a good one to do - I believe that was one of the options considered for this series, but it was vetoed in favour of My Fair Lady, which in turn was vetoed in favour of Oliver.

I prefer it when they stick to casting one role - casting more than one (as happened with the Grease show and is happening now with IDA), just gets confusing and makes the format of the show hard to follow. It's better to keep these things simple - and the 'one role casting' format worked well with both HDYSAPLM and ADWD.

There's recently been a production of Evita in the WE (it ran at the Adelphi theatre before Joseph took up residence there), so I can't see that one being done again (even with the TV casting angle) within the next few years.

I think I'll go for Jesus Christ Superstar. I think I would like a show that is looking for a male lead, as generally I prefer watching males sing. (Not a shallow thing, not really). However, I suppose I don't really mind, as I'm quite enjoying IDA and that's with girls performing.

On second thoughts, I don't think I even want them to do a next one. IMO I think the shows have peaked during ADWD - as much as I enjoy IDA, it isn't (or ever will be) as successful as ADWD and I think the show's quality/integrity/talent etc are declining somewhat. It's also increasingly moving towards already established professionals rather than the amateur angle they were trying to push in the earlier series. I'd much rather they stopped at IDA while the shows are still good, rather than push for another few series, see it flop and give MT a bad name.

It was filmed for MTV in America, and it is all on Youtube if you search for it. (I've yet to see a clip of Laura Bell Bundy hitting the last note of So Much Better, and she doesn't on this either, but it's a good quality recording.)

How about the just do the show the way its supposed to be with new comers.......maybe cost too much.

Now that you've mentioned it, I had to go and have a look at it on YouTube - and I agree, it's pretty good! But I still think the Japanese translations of the lyrics sound stilted - it will never attain the sublimity nor the subtlety of Alain Boublil's libretto. I thought the Japanese version of Les Mis was particularly cringeworthy - but maybe I'm just too biased about that musical What did you think of the lyrics?
