betfair help

Hello

i need some explanation on betfair.

I dont quite understand the lay thing.

Ashley is not going to win - i think thats a give.

So i was going to Lay her on betfair. So on the bet to win screen - if i lay her am i right in thinking the following:

I go to the who will screen. I go to lay. I lay £100 on ashley to not win ( i am betting against her)

If ashley is knocked out and does not win i get my 100 + a 100 win becuase i guess she would not win.

If ashley DID win i would have to pay a MASSIVE amount becuase her lay odds are so high.

The thing is it doesnt make sense, cos surely its easy money cos there is no way ashley will win so everyone can lay on here and make back their money.

Am i right or wrong?

It probably is easy money but at the odds as they are at present you have to risk £278 to win only £2. Thats means you'd have to put that money in your account and tie it up till Ashley is eliminated. Is it worth it?

Its not worth betting on ashley not to win because the odds, as Marie said, are so poor. Unless you want to put loads of money on, you'll hardly get anything back.

Trouble is, if you want to bet on Ashley "not to win" you have to pair of with someone of wants to bet that she will win.

Such people are hard to find, and if you do find them, will only offer you long odds.

Bit like betting on me to win a medal in the Olympic Games, and seeing as eating curry or drinking beer are not yet recognised Olympic sports...

As the people have said above you would have to offer high odds as there is currently only £1 asking for odds of 130 (129/1) if you came in offering 150 you may get the £100 you lay taken up by others.

Of course the money will be tied up for several weeks and if she should win you would have to pay out £14,900!

Edit: don't know what your liability is on Betfair but if it doesn't cover the £15k it takes a few days to get it changed.
