Songs that sound similar
I started this thread on a different site I visit 5 years ago! And it's one that keeps coming back again every few months. So I'd thought I'd try it on here now as well.
You know when you suddenly hear similarities between 2 songs? Be it the 'melody' the 'vocal structure' or the 'music' I certainly do. Here's the many I found over the 5 years. Gomez - Get Myself Arested Robbie Williams - Let Love Be Your Energy Audioslave - Cochise Skunk Anansie - Yes Its F...... Poltical Skunk Anansie - Selling Jesus System Of A Down - Toxicity Oasis - The Hindu Times Sterophonics - Same Size Feet Drugstore & Thom Yorke - El President R.E.M - E-Bow The Letter Gene - Where Are They Now? B*Witched - C'est La Vie Busted - Year 3000 Guns N Roses - You Could Be Mine Bloodhound Gang - Kiss Me Where It Smells Funny Free - All Right Now Barenaked Ladies - One Week Kate Bush - Running Up That Hill Depeche Mode - Enjoy The Silence Super Fury Animals - Golden Retriever Supernaturals - The Day Before Yesterday's Man Feeder - Come Back Around Snow Patrol - Spitting Games Cast - Walkaway Verve - The Drug's Don't Work Manic Street Preachers - The Love Of Richard Nixon Rolling Stones - Out Of Time Green Day - American Idiot Idlewild - A Modern Way Of Letting Go Oasis - Wonderwall Travis - Writing To Reach You Underworld - Born Slippy Killers - Mr Brightside U2 - Vertigo Vines - Get Free Green Day - Hoilday Dandy Warhols - Get Off Corrs - Breathless Duran Duran - Ordinary World Killers - All These Thing's I've Done Idlwild - Goodbye Oasis - The Importance Of Being Idle Travis - U16 Girls Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars Feeder - Save Us Lordi - Hard Rock Hallelujah Chesney Hawks - I Am The One And Only Snow Patrol - Run Weezer - Undone (The Sweater Song) Garageland - Beelines To Heaven Weezer - Island In The Sun Oasis - Half The World Away Roddy Frame - Small World Green Day - Hitchin A Ride Tweenies Theme Tune Depeche Mode - It's No Good Doctor Who Teme Tune |

Here's a notorious example:
Sweet Talkin' Woman ~ Electric Light Orchestra (1978) Do You Believe In Love ~ Huey Lewis & The News (1982) ...particularly interesting as two years later, HL&TN successfully sued Ray Parker Junior because of the similarities between their I Want A New Drug (issued earlier in 1984) and his Ghostbusters Theme. |

New Song - Howard Jones
Salsbury Hill - Peter Gabriel These songs are very similar. The last Howard Jones gig I went to, it was an acoustic one, he started to play the chords for New Song, but started to sing the lyrics to Salsbury Hill; even he's aware of the similarity and is willing to joke about it - bless..

Hear'Say - Pure & Simple
to both All Saints - Never Ever and Oasis - All Around The World Take a listen to this Chris Moyles parody here - http://chrismoyles.net/soundvault/pa...on=file&id=969 - it clearly demonstrates the way the Hear'say track perfectly fits the All Saints and Oasis lyrics. |

I put the songs I think came first at the top and the similar song at the bottom:
Corey Hart- Sunglasses at night Miley Cyrus- See You Again Arctic Monkeys- Certain Romance (The part at 3:52) The Killers- Shadowplay (The part at 3:08) The Killers obviously got the lyrics from Joy Division but that part at 3:08 wasn't in the original "shadowplay" song but it is in Arctic Monkeys "certain romance" song |
