Well, it normally runs when Comic Relief is due, so it'll be next March if it comes back.

Just saw a clip on YouTube of David & Carrie Grant at the recent premiere of Camp Rock saying they didn't know if CRdoesFA will be back next March but they really hoped so.

It's up to the powers that be at Comic Relief and the BBC David said.

Watch this space I guess

I they'll definitely be another celeb version. However, I think it is highly unlikely that there will ever be another original version again.

The BBC were hounded by the government for producing the show.... As it was seen as too commercial and copying itv. I think they'll just be sticking with Strictly Come Dancing- That's there niche.

They'll be leaving the talent shows to itv.

Well I find it stupid for the government to hound BBC for trying to be too commercial or copy ITV, yet in the 80s, the power and popularity of soaps was at a high with Brookside and Coronation Street, the BBC wanted to get in on the high and make its own contribution. Why not remove this show? I would understand at the time that it was too derivative or too sub of a show, but not anymore, I think.

With Soap Star Superstar, Celebrity X-Factor, Celeb Stars in their Eyes and Just the Two of Us all canceled AFAIK, there's certainly a gap for a celebrity singing contest on TV. With no Celebrity Big Brother since January '07 (but back for '09) there hasn't been an excess of big celebrity watching shows either, apart from I'm a Celeb other's like Scissorhands and Celeb Air haven't been high profile enough for the public to be tired of them. ITV1 has also reduced the celeb reality output by canceling other celeb formats like Love Island, focusing on other celeb formats like gameshows instead. I'd say CRD Fame Academy would fit in well alongside Strictly and Dancing on Ice in the schedules for '09.

I know Strictly had to drop the Children In Need charity donations this year because they weren't compliant with the new BBC phone vote rules but it looks like CRDFA is OK.
5.5 Charity fundraising

Any proposal to use Premium Rate competitions to raise money for charity must be referred in advance to the Divisional Director and Editorial Policy . Programme Legal Advice must also be consulted if the proposal is approved.

Some programmes, series and strands within existing shows are specially commissioned as part of the charity fundraising output for BBC Appeals e.g. Comic Relief does Fame Academy. In such cases, where the output is directly connected votes may be used as a form of donation.
Chances of another FA proper seem very remote at the moment but hopefully one day a fan of the show will be in a position at the BBC to commission another series. After all, the arguments against it are pathetic since there are hardly ever any new ideas in TV and every format borrows from others.

and indeed the live coverage of lessons and workshops (if they had any) would make the show both unique and meet the beeb's educational purposes. They could even use Claudia for a supporting BBC 2 show to show more .......

How they get the ALW shows past the same management seems amazing. The ALW contestants sing the same songs as X factor with the very rare offering from a musical, the voting format is the same and the end purpose is a musical lead (or major character) instead of someone to make an album. There's no practical difference apart from the word musical. Essentially its M factor instead of X factor with trained contestants.

You wonder after the last one if there any celeb singers left who might go on - the last series didn't find many compared to the one before that which had 4 strong female singers and some funny or interesting male perfromances. . There was also the problemof the better people they did find getting voted out leaving a lack of people who could sing that well at the end.

Comic Relief Does The Apprentice is already in production, was shooting this week as it happens so thats 100% back for Red Nose Day 09.

If CRdoesFA comes back it would have to match if not better the 2005 series for talent from popular names/faces.

The 2007 series was a lame duck in my opinion really, down to bad casting and lack of bigger household names than Linda Robson, Rowland Rivron and Tricia Penrose.

TV Presenters with high profiles, actors in popular shows, comedians known nationally not regionally, radio presenters (off Radio 2 this time perhaps) are some suggestions.

Think back to the casting of the 2005 series and thats where the standard should be set for 2009, if its gonna happen, and no lower down the "fame chain"

I have my doubts that the show will return, and had the 2007 series been as good as 2005 I'd not be very happy about this programme being axed but now I wouldn't be too annoyed or miss it to be honest.

Watch this space I guess as it does raise a lot of money that Comic Relief wouldn't have without it

They could have another FAME academy with some of the best acts from reality music series !!

Alex Parks obviously ! plus Malachi out of the last Fame Acad series and then some from past Xfactors and Pop Idols . Pop Idol's Korben , and that beautiful girl whi had tumbling blonde curls with a foreighn sounding name ......

Pick the talented ones , people who write music ... then use the old Fame Acad layout. Where they live ij a house , write music and practice during the week and compete LIVE on a weekend evening !!

Just been looking at the new Comic Relief site, and there's no mention of more Celeb Fame Academy.

There seems to be a celeb climb of Mount Kilimanjaro instead, with Gary Barlow, Chris Moyles, Ben Shephard, Ronan Keating, Fearne Cotton, Denise Van Outen, Kimberley Walsh, Cheryl Cole and Alesha Dixon
