I'm not so sure - we were finding the 'acting' side of it a bit embarrasing, so I stoped watching him, and just listened, and in all honesty wasn't impressed at all by his voice - it seemed distinctly average to me, far better then I could ever sing, but then again I'm not up on stage singing (a fact of which you should all be grateful of ). Maybe it was the song, but to me his voice lacked depth and tone.

It's weird how people can see things so differently! - In terms of talent, I think this guy is about the best I've seen so far this year - the acting was a bit embarrassing in the context in was in, but he was trying to show what he could do and I don't think he would be at all out of place on the stage in the West End - yoiu often see clips from shows at the Variety performance too, so he wouldn't be out of place on it.
The bit where Simon stopped him did seem a bit suspect though - a bit of dramatic effect to end the show on?

Its a fact that they do this, they do it on xfactor and BGT. It would take the judges years to see every contestant.

Contestants go through 2 rounds with producers before they get to see the judges. Funny and useless ones are put through to make good entertainment. And then they put through the fantastic acts and other acts which they want to do well but think may need a sob story to give them an added push. Outstanding acts dont always need a sob story and they cant give one to every act anyway, their ins't enough time. Simon and co are probably briefed on some acts before viewing them.

Well i disagree, not all winners win because that have a sob story, leona lewis never had a sob story on the xfactor, not sure if shayne did. However- leon, paul potts and plenty of other contestants who didnt win had sob stories.

Contestants are given sob storiess so the more of the public will get behind them and pick up the phone and vote, they dont necessarily want them to win. If the talent isnt enough they need some other reason to get the piblic to vote.

He isnt particularly talented in either singing or dancing, but i think what he does have is the whole package- looks, ok voice but for theatre, stage presence and can bring a passionate performance.

I wouldnt say this is a talent and right to win BGT, but his package appeals to simon because he is easily marketable and will gain lots of fans from being on the show.

If he wins he doesnt have to take a recording contract coz he will probably have a good career in theatre, but he probably will- which wont stop him doing both.

Absolutely spot on. My friend's 11 year old daughter has ambitions of one day being a stage school brat, followed by instant stardom. Whether she actually has any discernable talent is another story, but I digress.

She queued up for hours at the Cardiff heat at the WMC, sang in front of a few producers and got nowhere near the stage, never mind Simon Cowell et al.

Anyone who thinks that every act shown in the crowd at the start screaming "Cardiff's Got Taleeeeeeeent !!!!!!!" got to do their stuff on stage in front of the judges and audience is sadly deluded.

If every act performed in front of the judges, they'd still be filming the auditions now!

I thought Dean (which is his name, and i don't think he has been called that yet on here) was really good. As to why Simon stopped halfway through, i think he's selfish and wanted something more to his taste.
People who think that BTG is scripted are deluded because part of the magic of it is that the judges can say what they want, the acts mess up etc.

Btw good luck to Dean, i hope he wins.
