Just interested to know whether people had heard the song before Jessie's version tonight?

Huge majority of you seem to have absolutely loved her and was just wondering whether this was the first time you had heard it?

I'd heard it before, but I've never *really* liked the song, and was nervous when I realised she was singing it!

But, I think she did a beautifully moving performance of it - vero convincing, and if she can pull that out of the bag ever week from now there's no reason she shouldn't do very well.

I know the song well and loved Jessie's performance of it. It made me cry

I`ve not heard the song before so can`t compare it to any other version but thought it was definitely the best performance of the evening

I started off thinking oh no rubbish then i sat up and went WOW!!!

I don't think is a well known song so hope this won't affect votes

The man that got away, sung most famously by Judy Garland in A Star is Born.

No, I hadn't and therefore can't compare it. But I thought Jessie gave an absolutely amazing perfomance, best of the night for me.

Cheers guys - it's probably my favourite song of all time and I absolutely hated Jessie's interpretation from start to finish! Just wondered whether it might be because I have the original version so firmly in my mind. It's quite hard to judge objectively when you have such a definitive version in your head but I guess it really just is a completely subjective matter of personal taste!

I shall ignore this week from Jessie I think and give her some attention next Saturday to see if I really can see this huge star so many people are calling her!!!

If you don't see, you just don't.

'The Man That Got Away' from the 1954 version of 'A Star is Born'. It's one of my favourite musical films of all time and Judy Garland gave the performance of her career in it, as she was at the peak of her considerable powers. So, a tough act to follow.

I was not a Jessie fan before tonight. I honestly could not see what the fuss was about. Tonight's performance was outstanding. No, she's not Judy Garland by a long way, but it was gutsy, emotional and a great interpretation of a classic. Who could ask for more?

Give credit where it's due - the girl done good.

Well, I'll admit to not knowing the song well - certainly not as well as the other songs. And quite often, I find that the song I don't know is the one I switch off through. But I was thoroughly captivated by Jessie tonight. No idea how she compares to Judy Garland on this track, so perhaps your theory is true!

Fantastic performance.

She looks like a forties film star.

And she doesnt know it but she radiates sex appeal!
Wow!

This first time I'd heard the song was when Jeff Buckley sung it - on one of his live albums - MWB, then realised it was a Judy Garland cover. Jessie did well tonight especially after last week, she's now a real contender.

The judges thought it was the performance of the series but was it Jessie or the song.
Jodie is not my fave but I think she would have done the song justice maybe even moreso than my fave Sarah, as in my opinion their voices are far superior to Jessies.

I thought it was wonderful. Such emotion. I knew the song before being of an age to have seen the film first time round! I prefer Jessie's version though - I have never been partial to Judy Garland.

Much better perfomance from Jessie, but she shakes too much when singing in her lower range. Now that they have stopped all this hand wringing and dress gripping, she can concentrate on one thing at a time. It wasnt perfect, but it was a marked improvement

That's just it, she reminds me of a young Maureen O' Hara or Rita Hayworth.

She exudes star quality.

It's a very well known song.

I am a bit puzzled here. ALW and the panel and most of the people on DS are raving about her performance. Maybe it is my TV because to me she sounded sort of muffled and I had great trouble making out the words, I had to turn up the volume and was wondering if her mike was set up correctly. So it was surprising when they all started raving about the "performance of the series". I will have to listen again on Youtube to find out if it sounds better because to me it sounded rubbish.

It is all about the luck of being given the best song and this one sure is the money shot, I'm sure some of the other girls would also have done an amazing job and I bet they are gutted they didn't get this song all for themselves.

I didn't like the way she lisped when singing.

I thought it really suited her voice. Definately the performance of the night. But I'm still not convinced she's Nancy. :/

I disagree.I doubt any of the other girls could have injected that song with the correct amount of vulnerability and heartbreak, the way Jessie did.

I'm sure they breathed a collective sigh of relief when they realised they didn't have to sing it.
