I really don't get it, it didn't strike me as much of a performance compared with some of the others.

All I noticed was that she didn't have to move around during it!

I prefer Jessie when she sings more up-tempo stuff, we were all rather baffled in my house when the panel started raving about it.

I think she has a really good voice, but that song did nothing for her at all.

Not sure why the panel raved about her because I can't see any way she's going to be Nancy - she can't move, can't act and allegedly can't take direction. All of which are probably down to lack of experience not lack of talent, so no disrespect to her.

Android's comment that she didn't need to be told anything by him could be code for 'I couldn't get her to do anything I suggested.'

Did you actually watch her working with ALW - she brought tears to his eyes; and did you actually listen to what he said after she performed - nothing there that needed decoding - it was pure, unadulterated praise for an astonishing performance from one so young.

As for 'can't take direction,' that was not an allegation - DVO asked JB, "are you saying she can't take direction?" GN moved on before JB could reply - so we don't know what he would have said.

Sorry but I will be very surprised if Jessie gets to play Nancy. Nancy has to move and sing at the same time and to act, not simply emote.

Nothing against Jessie at all, she's very talented but despite what they say about 'raw talent' they are looking for someone who can fit into a West End production.

I didn't know the song. Just watched the Garland clip.

I preferred Jessie. Judy Garland's performance is virtuoso but in being so effortless it lacks something in the way of uncertainty and vulnerability, attributes which I think complement the song.

Jessie's version had those things.

I can understand what you mean by this - which is why Fran was my favourite before her exit - but I do think Jessie has something special; and if ALW had thought he could improve her interpretation of The Man Who Got Away I'm sure he would have worked on it.

But hey - we'll never get the whole forum agreeing on who should be Nancy - and how boring it would be if we did. No discussion - no debate - no flounces.

I've not been a particular fan of Jessie, but I do think she deserves credit for that performance. I also agree that it was the song of the night in terms of its innate power to be a show stopper. Jessie was lucky to get it, but she did a spectacular job with it, IMO, and I wouldn't take that away from her.

Edit because there's a big different between "would" and "wouldn't."

I thought she did a wonderful rendition. I knew the song from Judy Garland and this was used as her intro music when beginning a stage act. Jessie I think did an excellent job as Judy Garlnd was 32 when she sang it in 1954 having experienced some of the sadder side of fame and showbusiness thereby conveying some of the angst the song desrves. But for Jessie who is what 17 - 18 to be able to do that and probably not knowing the song or who sang it in the past is a tribute to her. Good on her

I think this was Jessie's best performance by far.

Having said that I'm not a big fan of Jessie because for me she just isn't Nancy. It's frustrating because as talented as she is and how much I feel she should go onto become a star I find myself getting irrititated at how much the panel big her up. I just feel she is not ready to play a role like Nancy. I don't expect that many people to agree but nevermind!

Only when he sang Bad Day which was one of his better performannces. Lee, for me is about performance and acting. There were better singers, but he completed nailed all of the others when it came to acting, yes even Daniel!!

Nothing to do with luck. She was the hot favourite (or certainly one of) before last week, when she seemed to crumple a bit. I would have been astonished if she had not been given the best song this week. It's a great song - Judy Garland's is the definitive version, of course, but IMO Frank Sinatra's is even better. Of all the contestants, I believe Jodie would have given the best performance of this song (Jessie is too young and too green to really feel it). Jessie did OK with it - she was quite good, not great - but it was a gift of a song, no doubt about it.

I was surprised by how highly Jessie's performance tonight was praised. It was good, don't get me wrong, but I thought Sarah's performance tonight better, and there's been at least six performances in the series I thought better, including one of Jessie's own.

But then I thought the song very dreary, so maybe that prejudiced me.

Sarah hadn't got a clue how to sing that song.She murdered it.
