Barry actually made a good point tonight

His point about the acting out with facial expression was a good one. There have been a lot of comments about "over acting" and I think those in question may have only been doing what was asked which is act it like you can be seen in the back of the theatre. this does not translate on tele, however, so that is why Andrew had Sarah pull it back (which made JB's comment to her sound silly because she wasn't supposed to do it big anyway)

i don't usually listen to one word Barry says, but glad i caught this point.

That may be right. Big gestures have been very apparent. That in turn means that when you are not getting a big gesture you are getting nothing - which come to think of it explains most of the Nancys. You also end up looking like Helena and putting people off. Not sure that you can't do both though. Aoife and Abi seemed to be able to to it with small flickers looks and movements down a TV lens and if you look at either on stage or youtube ( I think Aoife has been taken down playing in SOM) you see them doing their small scale character acting throughout the show and it works from way back.

The other perm here is Jessie who looks a bit ungainly being theatrical and tonight seems to have been taught to use her voice, act as Jessie (who is near enough to Nancy) and use presence and stillness to get over what she wants to whilst trying not to move too much.

The other thing though is stage presence and I would have thought that Sarah like Jessie has plenty of that to draw you in whichever way she's acting it.
