Adding Words To Predictive Text Dictionary

I have a Samsung U600 mobile phone and generally like the phone. However one thing that has been annoying me is that when I am writing a text there are a lot of words that the phone doesn't have in its dictionary. I then go and have to manually add the words in.

Thats fair enough and is understandable, however surely the phone should learn the new words that I choose. Mine never seems to do this and I have to manually add lots of words which is very frustrating. Even simply words like 'dodgy' are not in the dictionary.

Does anyone know if it is possible to change the settings somewhere to allow it to remember the new words that I add. Or to improve the dictionary at all?

As I say I do like the phone so I'd like to keep it, buti'm seriously thinking about going back to Nokia soon due to this.

Thanks in advance

i have a new D880 Dual sim Samsung and when i have pressed the 0+ to see the options in it memory i like you press ADD and i dont seem to have to do it again as next time its in the list of options of words ? very odd my D600 did exactly the same perhaps the U600 is different.

maybe someone else with U600 will be able to clarify is his/hers does the same

i did put this is google -u600 add words to t9- and one or two have problems with U600 loosing words ? they entered

When is it you would press 0+ to see the options? It could just be that I am doing something very basic wrong.

I'll use the word 'dodgy' as an example as its one I know as a problem. I type it in using the T9 and I get the word 'Endiz'. Upon completing typing it I get a list of other possibilities (if there are any, in this case there are not) and the option to 'Add'.

I select 'Add' then manually enter in my word 'dodgy'. This puts it into my text but not into my dictionary, meaning the next time I want to type the word 'dodgy' i need to go through this routine again.

Am I missing a step where you save it to the dictionary or should it do so with what I am doing?

if i put in the word or try to like your example above i also get Endiz if there are any other words that could be typed on those keys i can see what others are in my T9 by pressing 0+ if no other words are there i then press ADD and put in the word dodgy then if future texts it comes up.

Yeah that's exactly the same for me, except that it doesn't come up next time either and I have to Add it again

Definitely, should it be then I presume? Does anyone else have a U600 who could shed some light on this?

Sorry to bump this but I have read through the instructions and still can't seem to fix this.

Does anyone else have a U600 and if so can they store new words to their dictionary?

I tried a U600 when they first came out and it has numerous problems. One of which is a very buggy text message editor. After a time the phone will forget words and T9 can stop working all together or crash the phone. If this is happening all you can do is get it swapped. There was some talk of an updated firmware but I don't know whether it was ever made available. There are several threads on this and other problems with the U600.
