Basically the remote is very slow to respond and so if I hit play... and think oh it hasnt done it... then hit play again I am back at the beginning of the recording again. Also the fastforward button is slow and I believe this problem has only began since the new firmware and I am really beginning to be annoyed.

me too - remote getting really sluggish. I thought it was due in part to the sunnier weather (!) but don't really think so.

I've seen this now and then but I just leave it for awhile and it always seems to recover.

I agree the double press of play is really infuriating. Because of the abysmal remote control response I have lost count of the number of times I have been dumped back to the start of the programme. This so called feature is not needed either - just press 0 four times to get back to the beginning. Unlike to Toppy there is no way of patching the firmware to get rid of this unwanted action. I also think that it's a bit of an involuntary to action to press play twice for windows users (double click and all that)

Mine is mostly tolerable but sometimes it really seems to be bogged down.

I have had the same problem, but recently it improved, the only thing I did was to restore to default because of an unrelated errors, and as a bonus the remote came back to full speed.
