Interesting. If I remember correctly, you hinted this very heavily a few weeks ago. Now you've come out and said it. Part of me wonders why you're so keen for us to know. Part of me is curious. Part of me has it's own suspicions. All that said, last year there was a whole thread devoted to speculation about the sexuality of the Joes (which was eventually closed, for very understandable reasons.)

However, I find it bizarre that you suggest that a gay woman would affect the dynamics in the same way as a boy. I react to my lesbian friends in the same way as I react to my straight female friends. I'm presuming that the last thing a lesbian Nancy has on her mind is embarking upon a relationship with one of the girls in the house. So why does it affect the dynamic?

I agree with you, but to be fair if a gay woman were there, i do think some of the girls would be uncomfortable. we aren't all as open with stuff and even in our day and age i still think it would affect some of them. don't think it would take away from the competition portion, but the house would be different.

Ooh naughty - now we will all be wondering and speculating not that it matters one iota but of course it makes us curious

Oh rubbish!! Why would some of the girls be uncomfortable. They are all in the theatre profession and if they have a problem with people being gay then they are in the wrong business

Some of the girls are quite young and so maybe havnt had to deal with being close to a Lesbian before...(i mean i am 20 and have never met an 'open' Lesbian before) I like to think it wouldnt change my opinion of them, you dont know, especially in such close and focused environments... I think this makes sense!

Ranter can't/won't say who!

Speculation and deduction:

Not Jodie as she showed up to auditions with new boyf - now engaged?, next...

Fran has a boyfriend - she said he kept her going during her more difficult times.

If I recall correctly, someone previously hinted at Sarah being gay. *shrug*

I don't know if it is her ranter is hinting at. It doesn't bother me either way, and I really don't see how it would perturb any of the other girls.

I'm fairly sure I've heard a mention of Samantha's boyfriend. So I guess not her either.

Who's left then?

(Sometimes you just have to love the random OT shit that threads on DS seem to melt into. Lol.)

One can be engaged for a civil partnership can one not? I know it says "fiancé" rather than "fiancée" on Rachel's profile on the BBC site, but they sound exactly the same if that was taken from a spoken interview (not to mention that I know a fair few people who don't know about the need for that extra "e") - is there any other news on Rachel's betrothed?

Oh, OK, as long as we know he's a he. Hmm, it really could be any of the others, and I suppose that's the point?

My gaydar's normally very in-tune. But I couldn't even hazard a guess if I wanted to. Lol.

Oh, I'm great with guys... girls are always more tricky I find...

If I were to make a completely unsubstantiated guess... I think I'd probably go for Jessie, but I'm probably completely wrong in every single way. I can't even say why I'd choose her.

It doesn't matter who it is. THAT is the point I was trying to make - you are judging girls' characters based on what you see in a heavily edited show once a week - i.e. on looks and body language alone. You know very little about them - and why do you need to? The endless speculation about who is sweet/bitchy is pointless.
None of it has any bearing on what you are meant to be judging - their ability to play Nancy. You are not choosing a best friend.
It doesnt matter what their politics, religion, views on any subject are; whether they are nice or bitchy; straight or gay.You don't know that anyway.
It seems fairly obvious from history that Sinatra was a dubious character, involved in all sorts - that does not stop him from being one of the greatest artistes ever.
All that matters is - would you/the GBP buy a ticket if this girl was Nancy?

With all due respect, you could have made your point without making reference to any of the girl's sexualities. You brought it up!

All that happen is that rumours get started and people speculate- which they are perfectly in their rights to do- however there was never any need to mention it in the first place and I'm sure the girl in question (if this is true) wouldn't thank you for it as it hasn't been public knowledge till now.

Yes, it would make absolutely no difference whatsoever.

We are only speculating because it is intiguing, and we are nosy

And to be honest, that must have been the kind of reaction you were aiming for, making a statement like that on a DS thread...

Especially since the "gay" statement was bolded to draw attention to it. Speculation is a thing of the world; everyone's entitled to be intruiged.

To me they all seem like lovely girls, there's not one that seems to have a mean streak in them. From Sarah's interview it seems she got on best with Sam and Niamh which is also reflected in her Nancy snaps (hell of a lot of them both). Again Ashley and Jodie seem to get on well.

I genuinely believe that they all get on well and are all genuinely nice girls.

I'm sorry but that's one of the daftest comments I've read on this board. I cannot imagine it making any difference to any of them, and why the heck should it?

All the girls seem to get on well with each other tbh. Sure, there are groups within the group - only natural as some of them get on particularly well for various reasons. I can't envisage any of them having an issue with each other's sexuality, and I don't see why anyone else should either.

As for the point that someone made about the younger girls possibly finding it more awkward, the younger generation (gawd, how old does that make me sound?! ) are usually a lot more open-minded about things anyway, so I don't quite get that argument.
